If you are like me and believe in the purist concept of cars then check out the new 2010 BMW 3 Series Coupe. The comes with a manual stick shift, which gives the car the sporty feel we all want. If you prefer having an automatic transmission you could opt for the paddle shifters instead.

The BMW is priced high for car in its class but the 3 Series is BMW’s most popular car for a reason. Their legendary engine make the price worthwhile. The twin-turbo 3.0L L6 DOHC 24-valve engine is rated at 230-hp, decent for a small car. The mileage is decent too at 7L/100km in the city and 6.4L/100km out on the highway. Even though this car has a manual transmission it still delivers a great, confident driving experience. With steering assist you can keep all four wheels firmly griped to the road.

The starting price of the 2010 BMW 3 Series Coupe is around $41,000. Test drive one today at your nearest BMW dealership today.

I have been a little biased by not writing about too many diesel engine cars. Truth be told my first and most memorable car was an old 1976 Mercedes 300d. I learned how to repair cars on that old thing.

Well it’s time to set things straight, and I’ll do it by introducing the 2009 BMW 335d. When thinking diesel – words like clean, efficient or performance may not come to mind. But the Germans have been able to dupe us again by surprising us with the new 2009 BMW 335d.

2009 BMW 335d

BMW with the help of VW have helped create a new clean diesel technology that have reduced the strong sulfur gas that creates that bad diesel fume smell. The BMW has also greatly improved performance on their 335d by installing their 3.0L twin-turbo I6 engines. That may not seem to be performance grade but the I6d has an output of 265-hp. Not that bad. It also gets an impressive fuel efficiency rating of about 25 mpg in the city and 35 mpg out on the highway.

As far as safety goes, the BMW 335d is fully loaded with the expected perks of owning a BMW. The car received some of the best safety ratings in the business with almost full five stars in all of the categories.

Expect to pay a little more for the diesel BMW. The engine will easily outlast the gasoline powered 3 series. Starting price of the 335d is around $45,000 and can get to the mid $50,000 with all of its added perks.

This is the first time in a long time a car commercial has looked this fun and totally sexy.

The best part? You can recreate the 3D experience if you have a webcam and BMW’s paintbrush software. Go to the BMW UK website for directions on printing the 3D symbol and downloading the software so you can get behind the wheel of your own virtual BMW Z4. Beautiful, right?

With only 25 BMW Hydrogen7’s on US soil, the car makers handing the keys to a host of celebs. It’s a plan that must have went over well. Across the globe, the car is a popular new choice for red carpet drop-n-drives.

Who’s behind the wheel? Ed Norton, Cate Blanchett, Geoffrey Rush, Jane Fonda, Cameron Diaz, Francis Ford Coppola, and Gilles Jacob (President of the Cannes Film Festival). Even Davis Guggenheim, director/producer of An Inconvenient Truth.

Unless you’re rolling in cash AND blessed with a fame-worthy talent, you won’t be manning one of these babies anytime soon, but it is nice to see something eco-friendly in Hollywood besides the Prius. We all know that’s a great car, but it’s nice to give people options.

There’s been a lot of speculation over which car will be chosen for Volkswagen’s diesel-hybrid project. Some said the Jetta. Other’s said the Toureg. Did anyone figure it would be the Golf?

I didn’t, but that’s what’s coming from German blog, Auto Bild (via Autoblog).

This is one time when learning German would be really helpful, not as much as while flirting with major high school crush Nils -the Arrow- Schumacher, but still. At least back then I was … erm, helping someone learn English. Yeh. That’s it. English.

Anyway, technically speaking, the Golf makes a lot of sense. It’s VW’s top selling car. Sales of the classic hatchback model increased dramatically in North and South American markets, as well as throughout Europe.

With the momentum behind this model, it was a common sense choice for a hybrid version … but will consumers feel the savings in fuel and emissions will be worth the increase in price? It’s worked for other cars, but the Prius has been the top hybrid on the market since it’s introduction, making me wonder if the exclusivity of a hybrid-only model doesn’t make more sense. (Yes, I know … the Insight. What can I say? Two-seaters don’t count??)
