The Olympic Programme was finalised and I found out that there will be new events this coming 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. One of them will be the new discipline, BMX.

It’ll probably fall under cycling? Don’t quote me on that because I don’t have any idea if I’m right. Heh.

It’s also known as Bicycle Motocross. I found out that news of this new discipline’s addition to the programme were in the works since 2003. I guess now that everything’s finalised, it’s really safe to say that it is included.

There is an excellent opportunity to learn more about BMX racing over at UCI BMX Supercross to be held on the 9th and 10th of September, 2006 at San Jose, California, USA. It’ll provide a platform to BMX racing in a format we can expect see in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Anyway, the new events in the programme include the women’s 3,000 metre steeplechase, men’s and women’s BMX, women’s foil and sabre team events, men’s and women’s marathon swimming 10km events and the team events in table tennis, replacing the doubles events.
