NASCAR made their ruling in the case of Carl Edwards and his no. 99 Office Depot team for an incident following the race in Vegas in which NASCAR inspectors discovered that the lid on his oil tank was completely removed. The decision made by NASCAR has resulted in the loss of 100 driver points and 10 Chase bonus points for Edwards, 100 owner points for Jack Roush, crew chief Bob Osborne has been suspended for the course of six races, and the team was also fined $100,000 on top of it all. Just hours after Carl Edwards won the UAW Dodge 400 in Las Vegas to garner his second Sprint Cup Series victory in a row, NASCAR inspectors found an issue with his no. 99 Ford in post-race inspections. The issue was that the lid on his oil tank box was off. On Sunday, September 23rd, Carl Edwards picked up his third victory of the season at Dover International Speedway, and it couldn’t have come at a better time … just two races into his bid for the 2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup Championship.  Edwards later went on to fail post-race inspection as his car did not meet NASCAR’s minimum car heights according to the series rulebook.  As a result, the driver of the No. 99 was penalized 25 driver points and Crew Chief Bob Osborne was fined $25,000 for the incident.  The penalty assessed by NASCAR took him from third place in …read more
