B-0-0-0-de’s 0lympics at T0rin0

The 2006 Winter Olympics is one Bode Miller wants to forget.
Coming in as the Poster Child of the American delegation, Miller exits the game, frustrated, ego-bruised, and empty-handed.

This is not a slam on Bode, he is still a great athlete. But looking back, it would have been great had he exercised a little shrewd discretion, a little more caution.
So, what happened really?

Oh no, Bode…not again!!!

The American’s woe at the Alpine Skiing event continues…

No ‘Miller Time‘ for Bode just yet… (Source: Newsweek Magazine)
Bode, Bode, Bode…what can we say? Miller came into the Winter Olympics as the World Champion, with 5 Gold Medals within reach. But until today, he doesn’t even have a podium finish, much less a Gold.
In his first event on Sunday (Feb. 12), Bode finished 5th (Downhill). On Tuesday (Feb. 14), he straddled a gate (i.e. the pole in the snow went between his legs) on the Downhill portion of the Combined event and was disqualified.

A Ligety Win.

All hopes of an American Alpine Skiing Gold was pinned on the controversial Bode Miller, but it was the 21 year old Ted Ligety from Park City, Utah who snatched the Gold at the Combined event.

Bode Miller’s hopes for a gold medal in the combined event have vanished and my hopes of watching more of Bode have been crushed - he’s been disqualified for straddling a gate in his first slalom run.

France Wins Their First Gold as Bode Miller Falters

The much anticipated American skiier “domination” never occured and Bode Miller and Daron Rahlves both missed out on the medal stand today in Torino. While the Americans missed out, a Frenchman came in and stole the show.
Antoine Deneriaz of France, the last man out of the gate with a chance to win, pulled off a startling upset in the Olympic downhill Sunday to steal what seemed to be a sure gold medal from Austrian Michael Walchhofer.
Walchhofer settled for silver, 72-hundredths of a second behind the winner. Bruno Kernen of Switzerland was third.

Bode Miller earns solid spot for Sunday’s downhill

Via MSNBC – My favorite Olympic topic this year is Bode Miller! And according to MSNBC Bode Miller is now in a good position to win his first gold medal in the downhill coming up Sunday.
Miller, who hasn’t talked to reporters since arriving in the mountains, sent a strong message on the course with a blazing run before slowing down just before the finish. His time of 1 minute, 31.87 seconds through the fifth and final intermediate clocking was the fastest of the field. Maier was second-fastest at 1:32.34, and Antoine Deneriaz of France was next at 1:32.39.
