Glen “Big Baby” Davis already has an NBA Championship under his belt. But he wants to become an NBA All Star before he goes back to his other love: football.
The 6-foot-9, 290-pound forward for the Boston Celtics was once a standout football player in high school, but like Greg Paulus he decided to accept a basketball scholarship to LSU instead. (Paulus was rated the top high school quarterback in the country before he accepted a scholarship to play basketball at Duke University for Coach K.) Davis just signed a $6 million two-year deal with the Celtics, so he won’t be …read more

5. San Antonio Spurs
In their first game of the season, the Spurs looked dominant against the Hornets. They tripped up in their second game but San Antonio should be good this season.

The Boston Celtics were NBA champions a short time ago. If you had forgotten, their strong 2-0 start to the 2009-10 NBA campaign should have reminded you. After beating the Cleveland Cavaliers to begin the campaign, the Celtics destroyed the Charlotte Bobcats by a final score of 92-59.
The 59 points scored by the Bobcats represented an all-time low for an NBA team in their season opener. Gerald Wallace led the way for Charlotte with ten points, while they managed to shoot just 31.1% from the field and 52% from the foul line.
When Boston wasn’t playing defense, their offense was clicking. …read more
Contract Negotiation For Rondo Not Dead Yet
October 28, 2009 by Lyndsey D'Arcangelo

It was reported earlier in the week that contract negotiations between Rajon Rondo’s agent, Bill Duffy, and the Boston Celtics had stalled and were dead in the water.
Apparently, the negotiations are still afloat.
According to ESPN The Magazine, a contract extension for the lightening-quick point guard could still be reached before Saturday’s deadline.
Rajon Rondo currently makes $2 million per year playing for the Celtics, which pales in comparison to other starting point guard salaries around the NBA. Though Rondo has had his share of off-court missteps, he definitely deserves a pay raise. He’s been solid for the Celtics, especially during their …read more

After splitting last season with the Sacramento Kings and the Boston Celtics, Mikki Moore has moved on to another team — the Golden State Warriors. Moore’s deal with the Warriors is reported worth $1.3 million over one season.
The 7-footer who played his college basketball at Nebraska gives the Warriors a player who not only has size but who is also mobile. Moore’s outside shooting is above average for a bigman, which fits in well with Golden State’s system.
Last season, the 33-year-old averaged 3.5 points with the Kings before being released. With the Celtics, he averaged 4.8 points and 4.4 rebounds …read more
Leon Powe Joins the Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers recently completed a low-risk, high-reward transaction when they signed Leon Powe to a two-year deal. The contract is for $1.77 million, however more than half of the deal is unguaranteed.
Powe, who played a big role in the Boston Celtics winning the 2008 NBA championship, suffered a severe knee injury in the 2009 postseason. Not only did he require reconstructive ACL surgery, he also had microfracture surgery. On top of that, this is the same knee that has suffered damage prior to him joining the NBA.
Last year with the Celtics, Powe averaged 7.7 points and 5.0 rebounds per …read more

Glen Davis, known more commonly as Big Baby, has re-signed with the Boston Celtics. His deal is worth approximately $6 million over two seasons.
Although Davis played very well last year in the playoffs, he didn’t get any big offers this offseason due largely to the fact that he was a restricted free agent. With the Celtics saying they planned to keep him, Davis decided to take a two-year deal that will allow him to be an unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of the contract.
In the regular season last year, Davis averaged seven points and four rebounds in 21.5 minutes …read more
