How many times do we hear it? NEVER THROW OUT YOUR BASEBALL CARDS!
OR comic books.
One lady, Bernice Gallego, took that lesson to task. She found an old baseball card in a box of antiques, and listed it on eBay. As soon as she did, lots of people started taking an interest and asking if it was real.
She had the thing listed for $10. So many people were interested that she thought she better see what this thing really is! Sure enough, the baseball card was made in 1869 (over 100 years [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

How many times do we hear it? NEVER THROW OUT YOUR BASEBALL CARDS!

OR comic books.

One lady, Bernice Gallego, took that lesson to task. She found an old baseball card in a box of antiques, and listed it on eBay. As soon as she did, lots of people started taking an interest and asking if it was real.

She had the thing listed for $10. So many people were interested that she thought she better see what this thing really is! Sure enough, the baseball card was made in 1869 (over 100 years old!) and featured the baseball’s first professional team. According to one source, “It’s considered one of the first baseball cards ever produced and its actual value could be worth more than $100,000 when she puts it back on eBay.”

I don’t know what’s more amazing about this story: The fact that there is a baseball card worth over $100,000 or the fact that a 72-year old not only new enough about the Web to put something on eBay, but then had enough savvy to take it down to get the best offer she could!
