Brad Penny Claimed by the Giants

The San Francisco Giants have a very strong starting rotation. Recently, it got even stronger when the Giants claimed Brad Penny off waivers from the Boston Red Sox. Although Penny has struggled this season, he was very good not too long ago.
The 31-year-old right-hander will step in and become the team’s number five starter. This year with the Red Sox, Penny had a 5.61 ERA and a record of 7-8. In his last start for Boston, he gave up ten hits and eight earned runs in four innings against the New York Yankees.

Tim Wakefield to Return for Red Sox

Tim Wakefield, who has been dealing with a lower back injury, will return to the mound for the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday. Wakefield, who made the All-Star team this year, had been enjoying one of his better seasons prior to getting hurt.
In 17 starts this season, Wakefield is 11-3 with a 4.31 ERA. The 43-year-old knuckleballer was on pace to set his career-high in wins but now his focus is just on getting back to Boston and helping his team make the playoffs.

There are few moments in sports that are truly scary. A NASCAR driver doing flip after flip after flip at 180mph, a NHL player getting slashed across the throat with a skate, and a batter getting drilled in the bean by a 100mph fastball immediately come to mind. But what about the umpire?
