Long Day
This morning I awoke to the soothing sounds of Jimmie Hendrix echoing in my head. I went to the toaster to warm up my Pop-Tarts and I poured a cup of coffee. (Folgers Brazilian – it is heaven.)
I sat down to play a game when the controller suddenly jumped down, and scurried under the couch. That really irritated me. Now I was going to try and coax it out from under the sofa.
It was too frightened to “come out and play”, so I let it be. I could not help wondering what had scared it when all of a sudden …read more
Why game reviews get a lot of flak
Game reviews have been getting a lot of criticism nowadays. Several of the issues raised are valid: that the ratings seem too high, that publishers wield influence in the reviews, and certain genres like MMOs aren’t fit for a definitive review. As the popularity of blogs and user-generated content increase, expect this sentiment—especially among core audiences who have access to this medium—to be more prevalent.
Interestingly, game reviewers themselves offer no defense to the accusations being hurled against them. Is this a sign of guilt? Naysayers would be quick to agree. Let me just say this: don’t flatter yourselves.
Xbox 360 fans commend MS customer service, but are fine with console unreliability
I love the games in the Xbox 360. What’s not to love? You’ve got the best shooters like Bioshock, Gears of War, Halo 3 (despite my dislike of the previous installations, I actually like the latest one), The Orange Box, GRAW2, and I’m not even talking about the other genres yet.
What I don’t like about the 360 is its unreliability. If there was a Guinness World Record for worst failure rate, I won’t be surprised to see the 360’s image placed beside it.
What’s even more surprising is that Xbox 360 gamers are commending Microsoft for having “great customer service.” Don’t …read more
What’s your desktop like?
I believe that viewing one’s desktop gives us a peek at one’s personality. How? It’s similar to that TV show I was watching where two people set out to examine a mystery person’s house and belongings, then proceeds to deducing facts about said mystery person.
Well, seeing one’s desktop won’t necessarily glean the individual’s darkest secrets but it would certainly give you a clue as to his or her line of work, interests, and perhaps to a certain degree—even behavior.
I want to do a little experiment by starting an Internet meme. This time, instead of asking the usual five to seven …read more

Meme mia! Time for a meme
I got tagged by my friend Mel for a meme, so I guess I have to humor him. The rule is seven random facts about one’s self:
I used to be an amateur basketball coach in our district. Yes, your friendly-neighborhood ranter used to stay at the sidelines, screaming oaths at a group of hormonally-imbalanced teens who can’t play under a team concept even if their lives depended on it.
Playing Half-Life 2 for long periods gives me a terrible headache. If I chose to continue, my most recent meal would seek to exit my body through my kisser.
I have obsessive-compulsive tendencies. …read more

3 is higher than 2 so it must be better
So I’m sittin there dilligently working away to finish something up and The Boss comes up to my desk and plops this big giant box down on it. It’s this big black and silvery box. Across the front it says “Playstation 3″. He’s got this big goofy grin on his face and a Best Buy bag in his hand. I look at him and kinda give him a nod. He tells me he wants it set up in the big conference room. Tells me what games he got for it. (CoD3, Ridge Racer 7, and ugh Madden). I’m like “Alright.” …read more
Guess what WE got?!
If you’re a little slow and didn’t make the connection WE = Wii. Again the boss pulls through. I was busy working in our computer lab on a build for my company’s Christmas giveaway and he comes in. Lets me know that he’s got to Wii, err I mean. He’s got one. The console that is. And they’re setting it up in the conference room. I find a good spot to finish and run in to find everyone playing tennis. I watch a couple of people lose. Watch the boss lose. It’s my turn. I bust out with my bad …read more
Gaming on TV
This weekend I was flippin through the channels and I happened to land on USA. Mostly because there was female wrestling and the girls were fairly attractive. I didn’t watch long, but during a commericial I happened to see an advertisement for MLG. After the wrestling they were having an hour long or half hour (I can’t remember) show on this Halo 2 tournament. A while back I posted about USA starting to have gaming events on TV and lo and behold here they are. As the women wrestlers exited the stage and the men came on, I changed the …read more
