As I was surfing the internet today, I came across an article on CIO.com about the best BlackBerry Apps. One of the apps mentioned is a real-time coupon delivery app for cellular phones from Cellfire.com. The app is actually not restricted to Blackberry users but rather works with several cellular carriers and cell phones, but one thing remains constant – the service is free (unless you’re an Alltel or Cellular South customer – both charge $1.99 per month to access Cellfire).

I’m very happy to announce that today we have a guest post on Brandcurve by Jimmy Vee and Travis Miller, the authors of Gravitational Marketing, which I just reviewed here on Brandcurve. You can read more about Jimmy and Travis at the end of this post. Without further ado, here is their guest post, “Sometimes the Best Brand is You.”
Many entrepreneurs struggle with the concept of branding their companies. We teach our small business clients to avoid getting caught up in the traditional idea of branding. The concept of brand advertising is all about spending advertising dollars (often large sums) …read more
Formula Toothcare’s Creative Billboard Advertising

I found another billboard ad that made me laugh today on Ads of the World. This one is for Formula Toothcare. The copy says, “builds strong teeth.”
Now, this billboard will definitely get noticed, but will it work to drive sales? I don’t know about that. Of course, it may be the perspective of the photo, but the copy seems very small. Without that copy and the photo of the Formula Toothcare product, it would be difficult to know what this ad is for. It could be for any toothpaste brand or a variety of different products.
What do you think?

I read a great post on Small Business Branding this past week by Ed Roach that listed five relatively new forms of advertising that could be described as anything from unusual to downright bizarre. Here’s a recap of Ed’s list:
Bumvertising – ad placement dollars + homeless person’s sign = increased sales. Whether this tactic is politically correct or not and whether or not it works remains to be seen.
Adversiting Tattoos through Lease Your Body – nothing makes a statement better than a tattoo on a person’s forehead or so we’re lead to believe.
Google Earth Indirect Advertising – think Target and …read more
NASA Needs a New Slogan

In early August, Wired.com reported that NASA is looking for a new slogan. Their first choice (which they’ve since relegated to the scrap pile) was, “NASA explores for answers that power our future.”
What do you think? Don’t like it? That’s what the folks at Wired.com think, so they’ve put together a cool contest asking readers to submit new slogans for NASA then vote for the winner. There is even a prize. The author of the winning slogan will get a DVD of the space movie of his or her choice.
Here are a few interesting slogans (or plain funny slogans) that …read more
