The storm caused two big holes in the Georgia Dome roof and ripped off some of arena siding. No injuries were reported at the Georgia Dome.

The last game of the night between Georgia and Kentucky was postponed until Saturday morning. In order to complete all tournament games before the NCAA selection show Sunday afternoon, the winner of the Georgia/Kentucky game will play again on Saturday night in the semi-finals.

Playing two games in one day will be a herculean effort for either the Bulldogs or the Wildcats, and if either one of them manages to get through to the final game on Sunday, they will be at a severe disadvantage.

But, that’s why they call it March Madness…

Here is a video clip of the night’s events from ESPN:

Here are some top-notch college basketball games to check out this week:

Wednesday January 30: #2 Kansas at #24 Kansas State – Don’t be surprised if the Jayhawks fall from the ranks of the unbeaten tonight. Kansas State is for real, and you never know what is going to happen in big rivalry games.

Thursday January 31: #11 Indiana at #13 Wisconsin – a dynamite Big Ten battle will take place in Madison as the Badgers host the red hot Hoosiers. This very well may be the best game of the entire week.

Saturday February 2: #8 Tennessee at #25 Mississippi State – Chris Lofton and the Vols face a stiff road test as they travel to Humphrey Coliseum to face the Bulldogs. Great SEC contest.

Unbelievable…(shaking my head back and forth). Another sports day, another story of college basketball players skipping school. Wow. I’m at a loss for words (well, not really…)
The University of Georgia suspended three players today for violating the newly instituted class attendance policy. Center Albert Jackson is suspended for six games, forward Takais Brown is suspended for nine games, and guard Mike Mercer will miss the Bulldogs first 15 games.
In an effort to raise their graduation rate, Georgia instituted a strict attendance policy that punished players with fines and game suspensions for unexcused absences.
Apparently, the Bulldog trio didn’t get the memo. [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

Or maybe they did get they memo…they just couldn’t read it because of all the classes they’ve skipped.

I applaud the Bulldogs and head coach Dennis Felton for coming down hard on the truant players. Too many student athletes focus all their attention on the “athlete” part and not enough on the “student” part.

Monday October 29th – well, the saga involving the 3 suspended Georgia Bulldog players took another twist last Friday when Takais Brown was kicked off of the team for good.

Brown, the leading scorer for the Dawgs last season, was dismissed from the squad after violating unspecified team rules. While it may hurt the Dawgs in the short term, I applaud coach Felton for thinking of the long-term stability and character of the Georgia program. If you want to run a quality program, you need to recruit kids who are quality individuals, not just quality players.
