If you read my post from yesterday, b5media Looking for a New Host for Business and Blogging and were wondering what might be involved in blogging for the b5media network, then there’s a must-read post for you on b5media President and CEO Jeremy Wright’s Ensight.org blog.

In Digging into b5media’s Secrets, Jeremy expands on an interview covered by John Yau – see the post Should I join a blog network?

Of course, Jeremy doesn’t spill all the beans, but I found his comments very informative and the post gave me a much better understanding of the owners’ vision for the network. There are also some interesting details about items like how much a blogger in the network might expect to earn a month and how that is calculated.

And how is this for a vision? Jeremy writes:

b5media’s stated goal is to provide the right content to the right person at the right time on the right device (with the right ad tucked somewhere in there!). To me, that means we need to have a depth of content that’s effectively unrivaled in the online content world. We need to be publishing hundreds of posts each day, dozens of deeper articles each week and reaching a critical mass of millions in the US, Canada, Europe and south east Asia.

OK, so it’s not total world domination, but it’s big enough.

I like it when people dream big – especially when they then take action to make their dreams come true. And hopefully some others’ dreams – e.g. the network’s bloggers – also come true!

This time last year I contracted with the b5media network to host a site which I felt could help business people everywhere. My concept was of a blog which would be a resource for the many business people who want to know:

whether this blogging caper stacks up as a serious business activity
how to do it
what the risk management implications are and
what’s the return on investment of time and money

In other words, it would look at blogging from the perspective of a business owner, rather than from a techie point of view. Hence the order of words in the name I [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

This time last year I contracted with the b5media network to host a site which I felt could help business people everywhere. My concept was of a blog which would be a resource for the many business people who want to know:

whether this blogging caper stacks up as a serious business activity

how to do it

what the risk management implications are and

what’s the return on investment of time and money

In other words, it would look at blogging from the perspective of a business owner, rather than from a techie point of view. Hence the order of words in the name I gave it, Business and Blogging and the sub-title, How blogs work for business.

From my point of view it has been a great experience, and now I’ve made a business decision to move on.

I’ll still be blogging at my Thinking Home Business site and elsewhere, such as at the Going Global With New Media site that Rich Brooks and I have set up to help with the session we are hosting at BlogWorld Expo in Las Vegas in November: please feel free to visit there and offer comments and suggestions about how we should plan and run the session.

And of course I hope to meet up with some of you there in Las Vegas – if you are there, do please say hello.

So now the Business and Blogging gig is up for bids. I’ll be blogging on for a few weeks and will do what I can to help ensure a smooth transition.

What’s the deal? Well, here is what I’ve been told b5media are looking for:

We’re seeking a blogger to take over Business and Blogging. He or she should be an experienced blogger and familiar with the way the blogosphere works, how blogs can help businesses, and what businesses need to do to get the most from blogs and blogging. The ideal candidate is willing to grow Business and Blogging even further and is looking to expand his or her network, learn a lot, have fun, and make some money.

I can assure whoever is successful in being appointed to host this blog that you will not find a better group of people to work with, honest, straight and caring, than the b5media owners and managers. As well, the bloggers on the b5media Business Channel, of which this blog is a part, are a great bunch, very talented, businesslike and mutually supportive. And definitely fun to work with.

Great readers and commenters too! Thank you.

There is an online application form where you can specify you want to write for this blog.
