The idea of behaviour targeting advertising is amazingly intriguing to me. I’ve been looking at lots and lots of different online ad systems recently because of a lovely little project I’ve got going on at the moment.
The Numerati, a new book by Stephen Baker of Business Week, is about data mining mathematicians.
The publisher (Houghton Miffin) is doing a behavioural advertising campaign for the book with Platform-A, a division of AOL.  So, the idea is that we’re using the tools and methods of the Numerati to promote the book. [source]

Perez Hilton breaking social media news

Lisa, sometime guest poster, blogger and twit, spotted this on Perez Hilton the other day. We found it interesting that Perez Hilton is starting to report social media news.

Needless to say, I find it interesting that Facebook is now the global leader in the social networking world. The Business Week article that Perez Hilton is using as his source explained how and why Facebook is overtaking MySpace as the number one leader in social networking.

Gender gap in social media. More women involved in Web2.0

According to a recent Rapleaf Study, both men and women use social networking sites in massive numbers, but it’s the women who are holding down the fort.
I can’t say that I’m surprised, really. Sure, there’s several guys I’m “friends” with or “talk to” on Twitter for example, which really is my main socnet, there’s more conversations with women. I think that more of my friends on Facebook are women too.
