Next “Californication” Will Rock Hank’s World

Have you been keeping up with Californication this season? It’s a lot better than last season, in my opinion, but still not as good as the first. So far, Hank (David Duchovny) has learned about the difficulties of raising a teenage daughter and he’s managed to get himself into a four-way love nightmare but with a womanizer like Hank, it’s not too surprising.
A couple episodes ago, rocker Rick Springfield showed Marcie what it feels like to be “Jessie’s Girl” (yeah, forgive the cheesy reference to his biggest song) much to the horror of her husband, Charlie.
I was pretty astonished by …read more
“Californication” Season 3 Episode 6 Recap

This week’s episode of Californication was my favorite so far this season. Karen returned with Becca from New York and she insists on having Hank take her with him to his classroom. Of course, this is awkward since the class was also attended by the student, Jackie, and assistant teacher, Jill, that he’s having sex with. Having those three women in the same room was interesting and Karen correctly guessed that he was having sex with Jackie (even though he didn’t admit to it).
While in the classroom, Karen meets Felicia Koons, the wife of the dean and, more importantly, …read more
“Californication” Season 3 Impressions

I really like Californication but this season is off to a very strange start and I’m not sure I like it. that first season was amazing and last year was a bit off but I was optimistic about the storylines from this fourth season.
Karen is in New York City and Hank is left to raise Becca on his own and his teenage daughter has turned into a surly young woman. First of all, the whole reason why Hank stayed behind in Los Angeles was so that Becca could continue her romance with Damien. The problem is that I haven’t …read more
“Dexter” and “Californication” Break Records

Showtime is celebrating with good reason. The season premieres of both Dexter and Californication debuted with record-breaking numbers for the shows. In fact, the first episode of this fourth season of Dexter is the highest single-telecast delivery since they changed their ratings system in 2004.
I’m thrilled because I think that both of these shows are pretty outstanding and I’m glad that audiences agree.
Dexter pulled in 1.924 million viewers while Californication attracted 1.203 million. That’s pretty amazing for cable television shows (especially since this isn’t HBO, it’s Showtime folks).
I guess it helps that both series left off on sort of …read more
“Californication” Season 2 on DVD/Blu-ray

The third season of Californication kicks off later this month on September 27, 2009. If you’re interested in giving it a try but haven’t seen any of last year’s episodes, you might be glad to know that Californication: The Complete Second Season is now available on DVD and Blu-ray.
Season two doesn’t quite live up to the excitement of the first one (in my opinion) because I felt like they were trying to get too much going with the storyline but, for the most part, it was very good. It was a real emotional rollercoaster.
The season opens with a newly reunited …read more
Duchovny: “Californication” Sex is Boring

I’m not sure if I ever thought I’d ever hear the words “sex,” “David Duchovny” and “boring” in the same sentence but there it is. Despite the fact that fans were screaming out about the fact that they wanted to talk about the Californication star’s sex addiction, he chose a different route during the Los Angeles Times’ Envelope Emmy screening series in Hollywood.
If you’ve ever seen the show (if you haven’t, you should definitely give it a chance!), you will know that it features some pretty inventive, but raunchy, sexual scenes. I’ve often wondered how Duchovny has felt during filming …read more
“Californication” Beefs Up Cast

Californication is getting two new cast members. Variety is reporting that Kathleen Turner, Peter Gallagher and Diane Farr have been added and I’m not sure how I feel about that.
The Showtime program is one of my favorite things to watch on television (I also love Showtime’s Dexter and HBO’s Big Love) so I’m naturally a little protective of it. I wasn’t a huge fan of this past season and, I realize they need to add people to keep it fresh but I hope they will be a little smarter about it this time around.
I haven’t seen Turner in anything super …read more
