After this month’s winner, we have just about had almost all of America’s favorite game fish as “Catch of the Month” winners. We have had everything from smallmouth and largemouth bass to peackock bass and now catfish.
This months winner is Rocky Akins of Cedar Hill, Missouri. He submitted this nice photo of his and Jake Peterson’s (pictured) catch from earlier this month. The two caught the fish during a small tournament on Mark Twain Lake in Missouri. Their catch consisted of 15 blue cats and 1 flathead cat with the largest rounding out a 30 lbs. Sometimes it isn’t all about the biggest bass that deserves to be recognized. Sometimes it is all about the catch that will help make an impact in a young child’s life and the one that will ultimately help grow our sport. Those types of catches are truly special. Here you go. It’s not to often that I receive pictures of peacock bass, but this month I was fortunate enough to have received this great shot of Bill Reavis of Tappahannock, VA holding a beautiful peacock bass caught down in Florida.
While in Florida, Bill enlisted the services of Stephen McDonald Jr. Stephen is the President of Bassmaster Guide Services in Southwest Ranches, Florida. I know there are many readers who do not post comments to what I write. I know this because I average anywhere between 15,000-20,000 page views a month assuming it’s a low month. Let me just say to you Rich Lindgren, There is no doubt as to whether you are a dedicated fisherman. Way to grind it out!
Rich sent this picture in along with a few others caught on the same outing. One of the other pictures included a nice 10+ lb. carp. This nice 3.3 lb smallmouth was caught up in Minnesota on the banks of the Mississippi River. Rich described the area as very rocky area with a whole bunch to get snagged on. January’s “Catch Of The Month”

Suprisingly I recieved some nice pics from readers this month. I say suprisingly because I wasn’t expecting but one or two because of January’s cold weather.
This month’s winner is Tank Mosley. Tank sent in this nice picture of a 6.18 lb largemouth caught on Virginia’s Lake Anna January 13th. Tank said the fish hit a Kaotik Lures Football Head Finesse Jig in 6 ft of water on the 2nd cast of the morning. The air temp was 9 degrees and the water temp was 39 degrees.

With some nice photos received, the photo submitted by Andrew Peters (far left) was chosen. Andrew and his buddies caught these nice Lake Trout up in Chicago on their annual fishing trip. Nice catch guys. Andrew will receive a pack of Berkley Chigger Craws for his entry.
