This humorous roast will take place over the next two weeks. Starting November 11 (today), Ochocinco will roast T.O. with lighthearted messages to test the thickness of Owens’ shell. Then next week, T.O. has the opportunity to go back against Ochocinco.

“The interesting one is very pleased to be working with Klondike,” said Ochocinco. “I can eat ice cream, embarrass TO and perfect my craft all at the same time…while still looking good. POW!”

Fans are invited to follow along with the roast, as well as join in by submitting their own roast comments in a 500-character-or-less message on the Klondike Facebook Fan Page. Each week, five consumer roast messages will be selected and posted.

This campaign is part of a marketing initiative for Klondike bars and their new thicker chocolately shell with 25% more coating. Klondike bars come in several varieties. Packages of six retail for about $4.29.

I actually really like that about him.

The latest surprise is that Ochocinco can kick, y’all! He acted as emergency kicker in the Bengals preseason game against the Patriots last night. And he was successful.

Ochocinco has actually played soccer. He said, ” Soccer’s my first love, Kicking’s easy … like riding a bike,” he said. “I can kick them from 50, 60 yards, left or right hash mark. … I kicked all through high school.”

He’s practiced kicking but has never actually done it live in a game, preseason or otherwise. But Bengals Coach Marvin Lewis was in a bind, with kicker Shayne Graham’s groin injury.

Will Ochocinco be the new kicker for the Bengals? I would bet not. Still, you should keep your eye on him. You never know what might come next!

Twitter has taken over the world! In the world of sports, athletes are either fighting with people posing as themselves and sending false messages, or they are embracing it full force. For the Cincinnati Bengals Chad Johnson (or “Ocho Cinco” as he prefers to be called), Twitter helps connect him to the fans.

Ocho Cinco gave an interview recently where he said he plans on Twittering a lot during the upcoming football season. He said the site allows him to chat with thousands of fans at once and that it’s “big” for him. Never one to miss out on a marketing opportunity, he also said he’s going to develop his own application where fans and “interact and follow” him.

Now here’s where it gets interesting. He said he’s going to be “using Twitter during games, during halftime, after the games. I’m going to be taking it to the next level.”

Athletes are getting into trouble when they use Twitter during games or in the locker room. Coaches worry that they are taking their mind off the game by texting on Twitter, and perhaps even giving out some team secrets they shouldn’t.

I personally love the idea of a football player Twittering to his heart’s content. Of course if a guy on my favorite team decided to Tweet about the game and then ended up playing poorly, I might not feel that way.

Recently, the man formerly known has Chad Johnson guaranteed that the Cincinnati Bengals would make the 2009 NFL playoffs. Considering that the Bengals won just four games last year, that’s quite a statement.
Here’s the actual quote, courtesy of ESPN.com:

Recently, the man formerly known has Chad Johnson guaranteed that the Cincinnati Bengals would make the 2009 NFL playoffs. Considering that the Bengals won just four games last year, that’s quite a statement.

Here’s the actual quote, courtesy of ESPN.com:

“It’s going to be a great year; we’re going to the playoffs. We’re going … We’re making progress. I mean, I see it, and I can come out on a limb and say what we’re going to do.”

Chad Ochocinco Playoff Guarantee (Image: Zuma Press)

That’s not exactly Joe Namath — or even Rasheed Wallace, for that matter — but that quote should add even more drama to the 2009 NFL season for the Bengals if they begin to sputter.

If Cincinnati is going to the playoffs, they’ll need a better season than they got last year from Ochocinco. He had only 53 catches for 540 yards. In the previous five seasons, he never had fewer than 87 catches or 1,274 yards.

We’ll see if Ochocinco can live up to his end of the bargain.

Here is the transcript of Palmer when he appeared on “Movin’ The Chains”, a show on Sirius NFL Radio:

When asked about his wide receivers during the recent Bengals voluntary workouts:

“It’s definitely a new look for the Bengals receiver corps but I couldn’t be happier with the guys we’ve got. T.J. gone and Chad’s pretty much gone – he hasn’t been here. So we’ve got guys that want those two spots, guys that compete day in and day out – when we’re out there on the field, running, conditioning and in the weight room lifting. They’re guys that want to take over for those two spots. They look every bit capable of doing what we’re going to ask them to do.”

When asked about Chad Ochocinco specifically:

“I haven’t talked to him. I haven’t talked to anybody that has talked to him. He wasn’t here last year so I’m expecting him not to be here at all this year. Last year I think he was here for the mandatory camp but didn’t participate in it, so I’m planning on him not being here just because he hasn’t been here yet.”

Chad Ochocinco has shown that he’s capable of changing his name. Will he be capable of changing Carson Palmer’s seemingly negative opinion of him?

Stay tuned.

Last season, Palmer sat out 12 games due to pain in his elbow. Instead of surgery, the Bengals had Palmer rest for most of the offseason. Apparently, the strategy has paid off.

Prior to last year, Palmer had been very successful in his NFL career. In 2005, the quarterback out of USC had 32 touchdowns and 3,836 passing yards. He followed that up with 28 touchdowns and 4,035 passing yards in 2006. After tearing ligaments in his knee in the 2006 playoffs, Palmer played the entire 2007 season and posted 4,131 passing yards and 26 touchdowns.

Last year, Palmer only played in four games and struggled for much of his time on the field. He finished the season with three touchdowns, four interceptions and 731 passing yards.

Though he claims that his elbow is 100%, the Bengals will closely monitor the amount of throwing he does between now and the start of the regular season. The team wants to make sure that he doesn’t overwork his elbow and put his 2009 NFL season in jeopardy.

On the football field, Palmer will have a different looking receiving corps. Chad Johnson, or Chad Ocho Cinco if you will, is still around. TJ Houshmandzadeh isn’t as the talented wide receiver left Cincinnati for the Seattle Seahawks earlier in the offseason.

5) Clinton Portis, Washington Redskins
Portis is the cat who thinks that interviews are time for him to dress up like a 12-year-old on Halloween. Recently, he went on a rant toward his coach. Sarcastically calling your coach a genius is worth a lot of drama queen points.

4) Joey Porter, Miami Dolphins
Does this guy ever not have something to say? Whenever there’s an issue, Porter is first to give his opinion. His latest soundbite has him defending guns and Plaxico Burress. The odd aspect of his talkative ways is that he’s not that good on football. Plus he plays defense and those guys are usually quiet.

3) Terrell Owens, Dallas Cowboys
Now with T.O. getting up there in years, he’s not as boisterous as he used to be in his younger days. He’s limited his suicide attempts and now just seems to be trying to win games. But even if he’s cleaned up his act, he was a drama queen for a long enough time to earn a lifetime inclusion on this list.

2) Chad Ocho Cinco, Cincinnati Bengals
Just look at that name. That’s all that needs to be said. If you are a drama queen enough to change your last name to your nickname, you are one of the biggest drama queens in the NFL. Chad <strike>Johnson</strike> Ocho Cinco has vowed to be less of a distraction going forward but we’ll believe that when we see it.

1) Brett Favre, New York Jets
How many times as this guy retired? He seems to have “retired” the last half dozen years. His retirements are noteworthy because he’s usually crying and getting everyone riled up to throw praise his way. Then he comes back like most smart people knew he would all along. Favre has taken drama queening to a whole new level.

Chad Johnson, who calls himself Chad Ocho Cinco these days, can be a very good wide receiver in the NFL. But after all his recent lunacy, he’s just not worth it anymore for the Cincinnati Bengals.
The latest transgression led to Mr. Ocho Cinco getting el deactivatedo against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday. The issue in question was reportedly a team meeting that was skipped.
Whatever the details, the Bengals would be better off without him. Trade him to a team (Dallas Cowboys will be interested to take him on, especially now that he’s certified crazy) and rebuild the wide receiving corps [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

Chad Johnson loves to talk, loves to seek out as much glory as possible and apparently enjoys changing his name. But he’s not a winner and he almost never has the team’s number one interest in mind.

Adios, Ocho Cinco.

This seems fitting. Especially for a Cincinnati Bengal. Chad Johnson is definitely his own man. He loved the name Ocho Cinco so much that he decided to change his name to just that. To celebrate his jersey number. But Ocho Cinco stands for 8-5, not 85. 85 would be ochenta y cinco. Now ochenta y cinco must not roll of the tongue for Chad like ocho cinco does. We are sure he knew that there was a difference. But then again, he is a Bengal.
