Last year, he changed his name from Chad Johnson to Chad Ocho Cinco to presumably give his “Ocho Cinco” nickname a better stage. He wanted his jersey last year to say “Ocho Cinco” on the back but the NFL said that they were notified too late to make the change.
This year, there still won’t be an “Ocho Cinco” number 85 available in Cincinnati Bengals colors. Instead, the jersey will say “Ochocinco” on the back. Apparently, when Chad [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

No word yet if Chad Ocho Cinco will be satisfied with Ochocinco.

Carson Palmer, the starting quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals, says that his troublesome elbow is 100% healed. Last season, Palmer sat out 12 games due to pain in his elbow. Instead of surgery, the Bengals had Palmer rest for most of the offseason. Apparently, the strategy has paid off.

Prior to last year, Palmer had been very successful in his NFL career. In 2005, the quarterback out of USC had 32 touchdowns and 3,836 passing yards. He followed that up with 28 touchdowns and 4,035 passing yards in 2006. After tearing ligaments in his knee in the 2006 playoffs, Palmer played the entire 2007 season and posted 4,131 passing yards and 26 touchdowns.

Last year, Palmer only played in four games and struggled for much of his time on the field. He finished the season with three touchdowns, four interceptions and 731 passing yards.

Though he claims that his elbow is 100%, the Bengals will closely monitor the amount of throwing he does between now and the start of the regular season. The team wants to make sure that he doesn’t overwork his elbow and put his 2009 NFL season in jeopardy.

On the football field, Palmer will have a different looking receiving corps. Chad Johnson, or Chad Ocho Cinco if you will, is still around. TJ Houshmandzadeh isn’t as the talented wide receiver left Cincinnati for the Seattle Seahawks earlier in the offseason.

5) Clinton Portis, Washington Redskins
Portis is the cat who thinks that interviews are time for him to dress up like a 12-year-old on Halloween. Recently, he went on a rant toward his coach. Sarcastically calling your coach a genius is worth a lot of drama queen points.

4) Joey Porter, Miami Dolphins
Does this guy ever not have something to say? Whenever there’s an issue, Porter is first to give his opinion. His latest soundbite has him defending guns and Plaxico Burress. The odd aspect of his talkative ways is that he’s not that good on football. Plus he plays defense and those guys are usually quiet.

3) Terrell Owens, Dallas Cowboys
Now with T.O. getting up there in years, he’s not as boisterous as he used to be in his younger days. He’s limited his suicide attempts and now just seems to be trying to win games. But even if he’s cleaned up his act, he was a drama queen for a long enough time to earn a lifetime inclusion on this list.

2) Chad Ocho Cinco, Cincinnati Bengals
Just look at that name. That’s all that needs to be said. If you are a drama queen enough to change your last name to your nickname, you are one of the biggest drama queens in the NFL. Chad <strike>Johnson</strike> Ocho Cinco has vowed to be less of a distraction going forward but we’ll believe that when we see it.

1) Brett Favre, New York Jets
How many times as this guy retired? He seems to have “retired” the last half dozen years. His retirements are noteworthy because he’s usually crying and getting everyone riled up to throw praise his way. Then he comes back like most smart people knew he would all along. Favre has taken drama queening to a whole new level.

This seems fitting. Especially for a Cincinnati Bengal. Chad Johnson is definitely his own man. He loved the name Ocho Cinco so much that he decided to change his name to just that. To celebrate his jersey number. But Ocho Cinco stands for 8-5, not 85. 85 would be ochenta y cinco. Now ochenta y cinco must not roll of the tongue for Chad like ocho cinco does. We are sure he knew that there was a difference. But then again, he is a Bengal.
