I’ve never tried this cocktail. I contains an ingredient that I don’t enjoy: Guinness.
But I’ve gotten a couple of emails about this and figure that I might as well give you the recipe. You know, in case you want to make this drink. I’ll try to not hold my nose while you enjoy it. ;)
Black Velvet
Ingredients:

Guinness
Champagne

Instructions:
Half fill a champagne glass with Guinness and gently pour the champagne over the back of a spoon so the liquid runs down the sides, this avoids mixing the two liquids.

I’ve been mulling for some time what kind of beer to drink on New Year’s Eve, and I’ve settled on two. Interestingly enough, according to this article beer is now the drink of choice for New Year’s Eve over wine and spirits.
The first is a Belgian Ale, perhaps maybe even a nice flavorful triple. Why? Many of the Belgians are a little sweet and more highly carbonated than say a German lager, and provide a slightly “champagne-y” alternative to, well, champagne. The only thing I have in my basement is a Flying Fish Grand Cru, but if I were making [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

I’ve been mulling for some time what kind of beer to drink on New Year’s Eve, and I’ve settled on two. Interestingly enough, according to this article beer is now the drink of choice for New Year’s Eve over wine and spirits.

The first is a Belgian Ale, perhaps maybe even a nice flavorful triple. Why? Many of the Belgians are a little sweet and more highly carbonated than say a German lager, and provide a slightly “champagne-y” alternative to, well, champagne. The only thing I have in my basement is a Flying Fish Grand Cru, but if I were making the purchase I’d buy a bottle of the Chimay Blue or their triple, Chimay Cinq Cents.

The other choice of New Year’s Eve beer is an odd one for me, but I’d be intrigued to have a barley wine. Problem is, as I’ve never really developed a taste for barley wine I can’t really recommend one. If you can, add a comment below!

Speaking of wine, if you’re sticking with sparkling wine for New Year’s Eve check out Behind the Vines for some of Farley’s favorites.
