Tapout Charles “Mask” Lewis Tribute T-Shirts. Tapout has released new, limited edition Charles “Mask” Lewis Jr. tribute T-shirts. Charles Lewis Jr. Co-founded TapouT MMA clothing line in 1997 that grew in to a behemoth of a company. The Tapout crew love the sport of MMA and have helped many fighters along the way. Mask died in a high-speed car accident on March 11th, 2009. I never knew the guy, but he’ll surely be missed by all MMA fans alike.

L.A. Time Online Charles "Mask" Lewis Crash Report

The LA Times ran a story on the crash the killed Charles “Mask” Lewis, founder of the Tapout MMA clothing line. It also has pictures from the crash site showing that the car (Ferrari 360 Modena) that Mask and his female passenger where riding in when it struck a pole and was split in half. The other driver, Jeffrey David Kirby is still being held on 2 million dollars bail has had prior traffic violations to include a charge of Driving Under The Influence.
Kirby fled the scene of the accident but was apprehended a short time later. The LA …read more

It’s a sad day in the MMA world. “Mask“, the founder of Tapout MMA Clothing and apparel was killed in a car accident early this morning in Newport Beach California.
‘Mask’ who’s real name is Charles Lewis Jr. started the Tapout company out of the trunk of his car in the late 90’s and with support of his partners built Tapout in to a multimillion dollar, Goliath of a company that it is today.
