I’m going to pose the question that’s on everyone’s mind: Where is Edge? Is he checking out the Finnish Art Nouveau buildings in Helskinki? Visiting the faux-”Tropical Beach” in Helsingborg? Touring the Baltic wonders of Hel, Poland? Or just spending some island time in the Hellenic Republic?
He could be doing any of these things. Because he hasn’t returned to the WWE since The Undertaker evidently sent him hell during the hell in the cell match at SummerSlam. Straight through the ring, fire and everything. And if hell is under the ring, does that mean Hornswaggle is one of Satan’s minions?

I digress.

An exclusive jabandgrapple investigation revealed that the last time Edge checked into his myspace page was April 24, 2008 and he hasn’t posted a blog entry there since seeing the Foo Fighters. Could my favorite Rated-R Superstar really be gone?

Actually it’s been reported on the wrestling gossip newsletters that Edge has a slew of nagging injuries and just wanted some time off. A TLC match and a Hell In A Cell Match will do that to you. In the meantime, we wish Edge well. SmackDown hasn’t been the same without your flowing mane. Vickie Guerrero hasn’t been as despicable, the show hasn’t been as lively, the Edgeheads not as sycophantic, and poor Chavo just seems lost. Even your biggest supporter, Mick Foley, had to leave and join TNA. (Bad choice, sock man. Bad choice.) Come back Edge, we all miss you so much!

Bad Thing #7) She hasn’t done anything yet. BUT, Edge tells Chavo that Vickie is “going to take care of Charles Robinson (the ref who tossed Chavo from ringside during the Bam Neely-Matt Hardy match).” La Familia really likes to complain about refs, don’t they? Sort of like John McEnroe. (See photo)
jabandgrapple.com comment: What could this mean? Whatever it is it is going to be dastardly.
Level of Badness: Really Really Bad with the promise of being Really really really really bad.

Bad Thing #8) Vickie does some wedding planning between matches and WITHOUT Edge.
jabandgrapple.com comment: This is some really bad timing. Wedding planning must take center stage in your life and cannot be interrupted by work necessities. Also, the fact that she’s not including Edge in her nuptial thoughts indicates that the two are in for a rocky marital future. You must do these things together.
Level of Badness: Really Really Bad.

Bad Thing #9) Vickie summons referee Charles Robinson, tells him that his officiating is “biased” and that he continuously tried to “help the Undertaker”. She notes that even though he’s a single father that he must “experience what it’s like to be a WWE superstar for objectivity’s sake.” He must compete tonight in the ring.
jabandgrapple.com comment: This is definitely a cruel and bad thing. Charles is a hard working man raising kids on his own. He shouldn’t have to face a pro athlete in the ring. Nevertheless he could be facing Colin Delaney and that wouldn’t be so bad at all.
Level of Badness: Really Really Really Bad.

Bad Thing #10) Vickie books Vladimir Kozlov to fight yet another below par wrestler. This time it’s tiny Jamie Noble.
jabandgrapple.com comment: We like Kozlov’s head butt finishing move but he needs to wrestler someone good soon.
Level of Badness: Really Really Bad.

Bad Thing #11) She makes MVP fight Kane.
jabandgrapple.com comment: In Part One we liked this matchup because an MVP-Kane feud would be MVP to ECW in the WWE Draft. Alas, MVP didn’t do so well in this bout and cowardly got counted out for spending too much time outside the ring. After the match Mark Henry put a beatdown on Kane.
Level of Badness: Bad. This match was bad but it wasn’t Vickie’s fault.

Mr. Kennedy was assured of a title shot against Batista at Royal Rumble after no other SmackDown wrestler was able to beat his time. So far Mr. Kennedy has beat 6 former champions during his wrestling career.

In the last Beat the Clock Sprint match of the night and of the challenge Undertaker took on the Miz. Undertaker was dominating the wrestling rookie and looked like he was going to beat Mr Kennedy’s time. That was until Kennedy pulled Miz out of the ring giving Undertaker just too little time to get the pin in less time than it took Kennedy. Ever since Kennedy has reached main-event status we had to expect he’d get a shot at the title and it appears that shot is just a few weeks away.

MVP was really selling his burns in his match with Vito which ended when neither could beat Mr. K’s time. Matt Hardy and Finlay too fought hard but neither got a decision in time. This was a bit better match than MVP and Vito but that is expected considering they are more renowned wrestlers. The match got interesting when Joey Mercury entered and attacked Hardy. Looks like WWE is going to keep the Hardys/MNM feud going after all.

Kennedy won his non-title match against Chris Benoit when Chavo got involved. Chavo and Benoit will face off next week on SmackDown in a no DQ match for the U.S. championship. London & Kendrick retained against Regal & Taylor. They have had the tag titles for 8 months now so I wouldn’t be suprised to see them switch hands soon, but then again SmackDown is really lacking on tag talent so maybe they should just keep them.

Worst match of this night goes to Tatanka vs. Jimmy Wang Yang. The match was just dull and the crowd was totally out of it. Tatanka got the victory but I just hope this rivalry doesn’t last too long.

So what happened at this weeks SmackDown which just might have had the most vague preview in recent WWE history. Well, not a lot. No there were matches but very little in the way storyline development.

Looking to avenge their loss to Cena and Batista at Armageddon, Finlay and Booker demanded a rematch from Theodore Long. Instead of rematch they got more than they bargained for, a tag match against Kane and Undertaker. In the match Booker and Finlay attempted to remove Kane from the action by keeping him in the ring while they assaulted Undertaker at ringside. Despite hitting the Phenom with a chair, scepter, and a low blow Undertaker was able to recover and get the win for the brothers of destruction.

The rivalry between Chavo and Chris Benoit continued this week as well. With Benoit having Chavo locked in a sharpshooter Vickie Guerrero entered the ring and hit Benoit with the U.S. Championship causing the DQ. While exiting the ring Chavo verbally assaulted Vickie before showing her to the mat.

Joey Mercury made an appearance at SmackDown accusing The Hardys of being responsible for his injury.Matt Hardy attempted to apologize to young star stating it was a dangerous match. While Hardy was leaving the ring Mercury yelled at Matt to wrestle him. After Matt refused Mercury called out partner Johnny Nitro who stole the win from Matt by using the ropes.

In another match Batista pinned Sylvan who was dressed up as Santa. Boogeyman and Gregory Helms began to feud during the nights action and JBL ridiculed the WWE and fans. In Diva action Ashley and Layla beat Kristal and Jillian. Next week SmackDown will air a best moments show in place of the normal action.
