NOT!
But apparently Josh McDaniels, the new coach for the Denver Broncos (and former coach under Belichick) is trying to bring Belichick’s way of doing things to the Broncos.

I was able to wrap my head around the fact that his cut-off sweatshirt wearing, videotaping presence was contained to the Pats. Now these “protégés” of his are popping up all over and bringing the outlook that no player is bigger than the team to the rest of the league.

(Like Jay Cutler, who deserves some respect and is apparently getting none when it comes to getting a new contract.)

It’s not that I don’t think Belichick is all bad. Heck, no one is all bad. But the whole “spy-gate” situation of late has me wondering why he’s still a coach. But if new coaches are truly using Belichick as a mentor, let’s hope they stick to the rules of the game and leave the video cameras at home.

In true Pakistani style, though, the whole thing is shrouded in controversy – the players initially waived their rights to a secondary sample test, the equivalent of holding up your hands and saying “You got me”, but have since vowed to prove their innocence and appeal the decision, claiming, if nothing else, absolute ignorance. It’s all very bizarre and nonsensical.

Needless to say, this isn’t going to be put to bed for a while.

<a style="float:left; padding-right:10px; padding-bottom:5px; id="p261" rel="attachment" class="imagelink" href="http://www.everyjoe.com/pakistans-aktar-and-asif-get-drugs-ban/shoaib-ahktar/" title="shoaib ahktar">As if Pakistan’s time at the moment couldn’t get any worse, it just did, as fast bowling duo Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif failed tests for the banned steroid nandrolone.

Shoaib’s doctor proferred the predictably slim excuse for his alleged actions:

“Akhtar is definitely innocent and I can vouch for him,” said Tauseef. “He doesn’t know anything about medicines, and since he recently suffered ankle and knee injuries, he must have taken some medicines which are painkillers but come under the banned substances.”

I distinctly remember the same excuse being used when Shane Warne was banned for 2 years for using diuretics, saying his mum gave them to him to lose weight. Yeh. We didn’t believe it then, and I doubt anyone will believe it this time.

PCB Coach Bob Woolmer understated things saying they couldn’t afford to get bogged down by these events, but considering they’re still considerably bogged in by recent events, this is just another event that’ll have the media talking for a few days. Given that Shoaib has literally just returned from a lengthy injury lay-off, this could really be the end of him.

No doubt that this won’t be the best preparation for Pakistan’s trophy opener against Sri Lanka tomorrow, nor do any help for the Pakistani “we are not cheats honest” argument.
