Give it a shot!

A Hot Steaming Cup of Apple Pie

With the cold and flu season in full swing, I can’t think of a better way to warm up and curl up with a good book than with a cup of hot steaming apple pie.
Yes, you read that correctly.
Tuaca Liqueur offers some great drink ideas for the holiday season.  For those of you unfamiliar with the brand, its an Italian liqeur that is flavored with vanilla and citrus. Mmmm…. delicious.
This drink recipe brings you the warm comfort of a hot apple pie with the added splash of fun.  This drink would be perfect for any holiday party as it’s sure …read more

Nutcracker in a Cup

This drink may take a little bit of time to make, but it is totally worth it!
Featured on the Fine Living Network, this sweet cocktail brought to you by the National Peanut Board is the most creative and innovative drink I have seen in a long time.  You will have to concoct your own rum infusion, so get ready to roll your sleeves up.
Try something different and creative this year at your Holiday party; give your guests something they’ve never tasted before.  The mix of dry roasted peanuts and creme de cacao is one of the most decadent cocktail collaborations …read more

Eggnog Martini

So, I know it’s not quite the Holiday season yet, but I just had to check out this drink.
It’s Lon’s Eggnog Martini.
Eggnog and martins don’t seem like a likely pairing to me, but I’m willing to give this a shot.  And this drink would be a great way to spice up any holiday party.  It’s simple and easy and totally worth the effort.

The 12 Drinks of Christmas

Those who know me well, and who have known me for the past few years, know that this is not my “happiest time of the year” (for me, that’s summertime…. give me heat, give me sunshine!!)….*cough* sorry…. I got distracted. Right, where was I?
Oh yes… Christmas. Winter. Snow. Bleh. So, for me, staying warm, inside, with a good drink makes me happy. So, my 12 Drinks of Christmas (the 12 days being the ones that begin on Christmas night and end at Epiphany on January 5th)? Here it is….(recipes below)
On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to …read more

Experimental Mixology: The Christmas Edition

I’ve been talking to Simon, one of my favourite bartenders at Voya a lot recently about their (and my) upcoming “12 Drinks of Christmas” specials and features. I’ve been thinking about playing around with mint and creamy flavours and so far, although we haven’t been “into the lab” yet, (but we’re hoping to go play sometime this week) here’s a few of the things that I’ve been talking about and thinking aout.
Peppermint Twist Candy Cane Martini
Vanilla ice cream
White Creme de Menthe
Giffard Vanilla Syrup
Blend and serve in a chilled martini glass with either a crushed candy cane rim, or just float …read more

December Cocktail: Peppermint Mojito

Ahhh Christmas. If you’re at all like me, you start looking for the next flight to somewhere, anywhere hot. If you’re like my friend Carly, you decorate starting today, and you revel in all the wonderful things Christmas can be. There’s room for both of us in the world, but we’ve decided it’s better if our paths don’t cross too much during the silly season.
Drinks After Dark’s exclusive cocktail guru, Steve Kemble, has prepared a Peppermint Moijito for those of us who need a little escape and for those of you who just want to enjoy a dirnk with friends …read more

Deck the halls and Decorate your Cocktails

Anyone who knows me knows I have a bit of a bah-humbug streak in me, but this is one Christmas movement I can get behind!
Tim Laird, dubbed America’s Chief Entertaining Officer (CEO) has some tips to make your holiday cocktails as pretty and festive as your freaky-about-Christmas friend’s Christmas decor.
Tim recommends using Tequila and Vodka for your drink bases, because not only do they allow the greatest range of mixability, but they’re generally guaranteed crowd pleasers. You don’t need to stock a ton of mix in order to make a few different drinks which all bring the colors of the …read more
