I think my flu is coming back for a second round.
How is this possible.

Here’s a new trailer for Chrono Trigger DS. The thing that sets this particular trailer apart for me is that it finally gives the game a rating: E10+. Uh, maybe this rating came into existence ages ago. I know not, for I am a sad human being.
So here we are: E10+ for Animated Blood (not remembering anything of the sort), Mild Fantasy Violence, Suggestive Themes and Alcohol Reference. Oh, Toma. That’s the end of your soda pop, I guess.

I’m kind of curious about the Suggestive Themes bit. That’s always been an infuriatingly vague classification. I wonder if it means Ayla’s breast feeding remark was restored. God knows my life’s been a hollow charade without it.

There is a bit of a change, here. Look hard, my apprentice.
Apparently, Chrono Trigger DS’ text has been altered slightly. The font and spacing is definitely different, which is not surprising because otherwise we’d have one letter taking up the entire text box (blessed hyperbole). But it also looks as if the translation for Chrono Trigger DS has been, how we say, “touched up.” Does this indicate something good (Final Fantasy VI Advance) or something bad (rabid fans, drama, diseased squirrels taking over the Whitehouse)?
I went into enormous boring detail on the subject over heah.

My friends, today I has a sad. The release of Chrono Trigger DS may have been pushed back. Maybe it’ll be pushed back forever.
Okay, it’s not that bad. It’ll just feel like forever.
There’s no official word on a delay, but Amazon is listing the title’s arrival for December 30th 2008.
At the risk of getting angry early, you’re ruining Christmas, Square-Enix.

Grab your time-traveling hats! (You do have a time-traveling hat, right?) WorthPlaying has pegged the release of Chrono Trigger DS release for November 25th, 2008.
There’s no official yea or nay from Square-Enix at this point, but the height of the holiday season probably isn’t a far-off guess.
Great! By the time I’ve finished grinding for the end of Final Fantasy IV DS, I should be ready to pick up Chrono Trigger DS!

Earlier this fine day, Silicon Era made note of Square-Enix’s move to copyright “Chrono Trigger: Echoes of Time.”
Is “Echoes of Time” a subtitle for the Chrono Trigger DS remake coming out this fall? Or is Square-Enix going to give us all a reason to live again?

Jeremy Parish, the esteemed new games journalist next in line to become King of the World, got to try Chrono Trigger DS at E3. His revelations will shock and astound you!

Chrono Trigger is pretty much the same game you played on the SNES.
And the Playstation.
I know you’re shocked.
But!—If you were unfortunate enough to play it on the Playstation, fear not. The inexcusably long load times are gone, gone, gone.

Chrono Trigger is pretty much the same game you played on the SNES.

And the Playstation.

I know you’re shocked.

But!—If you were unfortunate enough to play it on the Playstation, fear not. The inexcusably long load times are gone, gone, gone.

“It’s Chrono Trigger on the go. What’s not to like? There is plenty to like, though. This is easily the most solid 16-bit port Square has ever put together; even in what company reps claim is a fairly unstable build, the game looks and sounds great. No slowdown, no sluggishness, no twitchy unpleasantness. All the problems that bogged down the PlayStation port from a few years back are completely wiped away; this is a game that’s been reprogrammed as opposed to being done through shoddy emulation.”

Also worth a hurrah: the sound quality reportedly does not suck.

“[T]he music and sound effects are spot-on, free of the compressed, muffled quality that tend to affect Square’s DS games — good enough to sound perfect through a pair of high-quality headphones. Clearly, bringing aboard the game’s original composer, Yasunori Mitsuda, was the right choice.”

It looks like the translation will remain more or less the same, which makes sense since very little of the original script was censored compared to Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy VI.

The animated cut scenes from the Playstation are making an appearance as well, so we can all appreciate the hasty tie-ins to Chrono Cross.

Speaking of, if Square really wants to please the world with this game’s release, it could do worse than include Radical Dreamers on the cart.

(Hahahaha I wrote “Radical Creamers” at first, oh Jesus.)
