Roger Federer Wins Cincinnati Open

Roger Federer might have shown a little rust after taking some time off after the birth of his twins but he’s back in top form and has captured the Cincinnati Masters title. Facing Novak Djokovic in the final yesterday, Federer appeared to be in control from the very first set and easily went on to celebrate a 6-1, 7-5 victory.

Both Williams Sisters Lose in Cincinnati

Talk about a shocker! Both Venus Williams and her younger sister, Serena Williams, were eliminated from the third-round at the Cincinnati Open after playing miserably. It was painful to watch, actually.
Venus took on Italy’s Flavia Pennetta and she made 38 unforced errors and just looked wild. She kept dumping balls into the net and ended up losing 7-6 (2), 6-4.
If you thought that was bad, you’ll be shocked to learn that Serena actually fared worse. On the very same court just hours later, a second Williams sister was eliminated after making 44 unforced errors and ended up losing to Austria’s …read more
Safina, Williams Advance at Cincinnati

Venus Williams made her Cincinnati Open debut and was predictably brilliant despite the fact that the evening’s only single match was delayed by 90 minutes because of rain earlier in the schedule. She faced off against qualifier, Olga Govortsova, and the third-seeded Williams easily won 6-2, 6-2.
Things weren’t as smooth for top-seeded Dinara Safina who seemed to struggle to get control over her game early in the match against unseeded Roberta Vinci.
