The question is though, how does the average Joe feel about the Zune? Is it worth it? Can it measure up to the iPod in the real world? Is the iPod really just about image and not functionality. Is the iPod really just about iTunes?

The Microsoft Zune music player has been out for awhile now and seems to be getting some fairly decent coverage by the folks at C/NET and other tech circles. The question is though, how does the average Joe feel about the Zune? Is it worth it? Can it measure up to the iPod in the real world? Is the iPod really just about image and not functionality. Is the iPod really just about iTunes?

Who better to review a portable music device that someone who’s immersed in music on a regular basis and technology at the same time. The difference is it’s not your normal slant. Shawn over at worshipplus takes a stab at the critics corner and shares his review of the Zune.

The screen is nice and bright, and the audio quality is top notch. I frequently plug my Zune into my desktop speakers at the office, and it always sounds clear and crisp. The headphones that come with the Zune seem fairly standard, and while their audio quality is acceptable, I’m not sure I like the way they feel in my ears. They feel like they’re about to fall out, even though I’ve never had them fall out, even when using them for extended periods. This could just be me, so your mileage may vary. The headphones do come with a little magnetic strip on the back of each earbud, helping you to keep the rat’s nest of wires under control a bit when storing your Zune headphones.

I always buy new headphones for my music devices. Can’t stand the iPod buds, I don’t like bud earphones in general. Usually always pick-up a pair of Sony clip style. I will say however that I don’t like the new “feature” of having each headphone piece of a different length of wire for “comfort”. I was comfortable just fine the other way.

Check out the rest of Shawn’s review of the Zune and see if it may just be the device you’ve been looking for lately for all of your music needs.
