Coach K) will return as the head coach of the U.S. men’s basketball team for the 2012 Olympics. He will also remain as coach of the national team at the 2010 world championship in Turkey.

“With the success that we had, I would do everything in my power to keep everything intact,” Colangelo told The Associated Press without confirming the decision.

Aside from his busy coaching schedule for Duke University, Coach K also travels frequently around the country giving speeches on leadership and holding success-based workshops for many companies. After looking at his basketball resume, it’s quite obvious he knows a thing or two about being a leader.

It really isn’t a dramatic jump, considering the fact that Greg Paulus was a standout quarterback on his high school football team. While at Christian Brothers Academy, Paulus started for three seasons — passing for over 8,000 yds., breaking five state records and losing only three games throughout his career.

These stats were so impressive that Paulus was once considered the best quarterback in his age group, receiving 53 scholarship offers to play football at the Division I level in college.

Greg Paulus may be throwing a football instead of a basketball once again.

But Paulus’ first love had always been basketball. And when he was given the opportunity to play for one of the most storied and respected programs in college basketball history, he took it. Who can blame him? Some kids grow up dreaming of playing at Duke under the helm of Coach K. Sure, Paulus has gotten teased more than most over his four-year career. But I don’t think his football talent was wasted.

Apparently, the Green Bay Packers were intrigued enough to give Paulus a workout.

We all know that Paulus isn’t going to the NBA. But it looks as though the NFL could be a reasonable back-up plan.

Because of the transfer rule in college basketball, Seth will sit out the 2009-10 season and be eligible for 2010-11 as a third-year sophomore.

Seth also told ESPN that the opportunity to continue his career at Duke, and get a Duke education were other major factors in the decision.

The media/television exposure could have also been a factor, hmmm?

Perhaps Coach K. will have an opportunity to get back the Blue Devils back to the Final Four with Curry’s help.

Fairly recently Dean Smith announced that he is endorsing Barack Hussein Obama.

Of course he didn’t. Wink. A UNC basketball rep described the statement Williams made calling Obama “the next President of the United States” as “playful.” Of course Williams could have refused the Obama campaign’s request to have Obama on court. No, instead, he offered Obama some great free media in a state that loves basketball and their Tar Heels.

Coach K, I can assume, is a McCain supporter.

Bush’s way or the highway.

Many will say—always off the record—that they can agree with K on nine out of 10 things, but all their coach will remember is the one disagreement. Like one of his heroes, George W. Bush, Krzyzewski sees the world in absolutes: You’re with him or against him. That unites his players on the court, but it confounds them much of the rest of the time.

So are there any other past or present college basketball figures stepping up and endorsing a Presidential candidate? VP?

Not that I know of.

Though Craig Robinson, first year coach of the Oregon State Beavers, is the brother-in-law of Barack Hussein Obama.

Reggie Love, former Blue Devil walk-on, actually is a body man for Barack Hussein Obama.

No such news from the McCain-Palin side.

Though there was this speech er… shout out er… some kind of mavericky prattle coming out of Palin’s mouth about native Alaskans Carlos Boozer and Trajan Langdon.

Palin’s memo is here

Props to Goathair on that. Also, and I won’t take credit for pointing this out: dude in that picture is a dreadful David Stern wannabe.

Anyways,

“Nice looking parrot”

To be fair and balanced, well, I have to now show something that casts Barack Hussein Obama negatively.

How convenient, according to one political party, I’ve already have.

Yes folks, November 4th couldn’t come any quicker, plain and simple. It’s aggravating and is really polarizing much of the country.

Only a few more days left until we “elect” a new president. Hang in there.

For someone who is as young and tall as he is, Plumlee has plenty of meat on his bones, and he is very agile to boot. (Krzyzewski told me he jumped 6 feet, 9 inches for his high school track team.)

For someone who is as young and tall as he is, Plumlee has plenty of meat on his bones, and he is very agile to boot. (Krzyzewski told me he jumped 6 feet, 9 inches for his high school track team.) He seemed a little lost at times basketball-wise, but that’s nothing unusual considering it was only his fourth practice. Plumlee is Duke’s best shot-blocker, and he fits the Blue Devils’ wide-open style much better than 7-1 sophomore center Brian Zoubek. If the season started today, Plumlee would be Duke’s starting center.

About this leapfrogging of sophomore Nolan Smith over senior Greg Paulus:

I don’t necessarily like this move. It will probably mean better second unit proficiency considering Paulus will likely play a bit more with talented freshman Elliott Williams. This takes some pressure off of Williams. And it means Paulus will be the first or second scoring option for certain stretches of the first half.

Coach K, you might have just made a “genius” move.

Zach from Northwestern Wins

Surely a bold move by Coach K and we’ll see how long it lasts. I wouldn’t doubt the motives of Coach K, though; for all of Paulus’ talent, he knows his players more than anyone. And having Paulus’ shots off the bench could be genius. Expect a small crunch time team of Smith-Paulus-Scheyer-Henderson-Singler.

Ok. No more cheap shots about Duke for at least another week…

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.
