As a former coach of the Lions, you have to realize that you are lucky to just get another coaching job. Unless you were an interim coach like Dick Jauron, there is a special curse for you that will keep you from ever coaching in the NFL ranks again.
Just try and name another Lions head coach in the NFL? There aren’t any.
One has to also keep in mind that Rod lost all 16 games in his last year. That puts him in with some pretty special company, namely, …read more
Jon Kitna – Lions deliver low blow

My Lions stink. How could they just take Jon Kitna and throw him aside?
Jon Kitna’s career in Detroit takes a knee
No, Jon is not the short term answer to quarterback and he is not the long term answer, but there is a way to handle things and the Lions don’t know about that way. The Lions went with a gutless low class way. The put Jon on IR, basically shelved him for the season and implied he is done forever as a Lions.
Hey, thanks for nothing.
Oh, Jon had …read more
Why Coach Marinelli still has a job

Mostly Coach Rod Marinelli of the Lions still has a job, because Matt Millen does not have a job. The owner, William Clay Ford, can handle only so many firings at once.
But Marinelli said they did not talk about his future, despite Sunday’s 34-7 loss to Chicago and the Lions’ 0-4 start. He also said Ford did not ask or order him to play any particular player.
Asked if he got the feeling Ford still believes in him, Marinelli indicated he thought so.
But he said: “I never try to read nothing …read more

Matt Millen sitting with everyone that thought he should keep the job
Hey, hey, hey!
Your intrepid author went home today and told the wife, “Honey, don’t get me anything for Xmas, my present already arrived”. The Detroit Lions owner, William Clay Ford, fired Matt Millen the GM.
Finally there is something to look forward to in the Lions season. Now we can’t quit there. Just keep on firing. Get rid of the entire front office, the coaches, most of the players, maybe even the parking lot attendants. Ok, …read more
Detroit Lions – Bill Ford Jr. would fire Matt Millen

The greatest mystery of the Universe is how Matt Millen, seen here shaking hands with Detroit Lions owner William Clay Ford, can keep his job
The real question is how the Detroit Lions remain in the NFL.
You have Strahan calling them out on Fox TV saying you could see it in their eyes; they just don’t want to play. He got so bad even Jimmy Johnson tried to quiet him down, but he was just expressing what all of us have witnessed for 44 years of the William Clay Ford regime. …read more

Michael Turner of the Atlanta Falcons. And where are the Stinkin Lions in this picture?
The Detroit Lions stink.
Maybe this should end right there, but that would tell you nothing, because they always seem to stink. They should be renamed the Detroit Stinkin Lions.
How can they lose to the Atlanta Falcons? Oh, that part is easy; any NFL team can lose to another on their home field. But how do you get blown out by a team with a rookie coach, rookie quarterback, rookie linemen, heck probably a …read more

80 to 1?
So that is like saying there is a chance, right?
If they play 80 seasons then the Lions would win it all 1 time? One time? Really? That is awesome!
Can they play 80 seasons next year, because we have waited for like forever, you know?
That would only be 1,280 games. That is a lot of Ford Truck ads for the Ford Family. Not that anyone buys a truck anymore with 4 buck per gallon gas.
Jon Kitna will pass in a more balanced attack now that …read more

Gosder Cherilus is thinking “No more chokeholds”

Hey my Lions are at it again.
They seem to be the ultimate in bad character judges. Is Cherilus a bad character? Maybe not, but that did not stop him from getting in trouble and trouble seems to be the norm with the Lions.
Remember Charles Rogers? He was caught using drugs in a test at the combines. Did not stop the Lions from taking him, though.
While celebrating his 23rd birthday at a bar, Gosder …read more

Jon Kitna is at it again. He is calling for 10 victories, but for a different reason.
No, Jon is not crazy. Well, maybe a little, he did agree to play for the Detroit Lions. Nobody made him do it.
This year Jon is calling for 10 victories, because that would mean they are in the playoffs and that would mean they are more than competitive. That would mean a very successful season for the team.
Just as he did last off-season — and again earlier this year — Kitna …read more

Roy Williams is the best receiver on the Detroit Lions.
Ok, settle down, the Squibster has not forgotten about Calvin Johnson. Someday Calvin Johnson may be better than Roy Williams, but right now it is Roy that has caught all the big balls.
Roy thought for sure that he was traded last year.
Did you ever seriously think you might be traded?
