Texas received four first-place votes, and Oklahoma and USC each had one first-place vote. We’re going to see match-ups between many of these top ten teams, but by then, we could see some of these schools fall from grace. Are there any surprised coming from down below? Is this Notre Dame’s year? What about Oklahoma State or Utah?

In my opinion, though, this top ten list is pretty spot-on. I would have voted for Florida as number one, even if I’m not a fan of the school, and it’s only natural to have Texas and Oklahoma as two and three, consider that they both have a Heisman winner or nominee coming back for another year. Only tie will tell, though.

Coaches Poll Predicts Florida as #1

But there are many coaches who make even more. It’s no surprise that USC’s Pete Carrol tops the list, making a base salary of $4.4 million. Here’s the rest of the top ten:

3. Nick Saban, Alabama, $3.9 million
4. Bob Stoops, Oklahoma, $3.8 million
5. Les Miles, LSU, $3.8 million

7. Urban Meyer, Florida, $3.4 million
8. Kirk Ferentz, Iowa, $3.03 million
9. Mack Brown, Texas, $2.91 million
10. Bobby Petrino, Arkansas, $2.9 million

2009 NCAA Football Coach Salaries

Recently, Kiffin spoke with WGFX in Tennessee about his job, and he attributes his antics to the fact that the SEC is very, very passionate about football. I wouldn’t totally disagree with him.

The best example I can give you is that in our first year at Southern Cal, there were 45,000 people in the stands and that’s a pretty powerful school. At Tennessee, even when it’s down at times, we’re still selling out the stadium. So I think that speaks volumes about the issue.

Lane Kiffin Talks about SEC Passion

The bad news is, the Yankees took this game against the Baltimore Orioles (thanks to Robinson Cano) in the bottom of the ninth and have won two in a row.

The good news is, the Boston Red Sox are on a 7-game win streak, the Yanks are 7.5 games behind and in last place, and GM Joe Girardi got ejected from yesterday’s game against Baltimore (46s):

The Rant Master needs only an audio clip to show why he’s top dog among screamers and yellers (1m, 18s). If you have virgin ears, beware. The F-bombs drop faster than Lindsay Lohan’s pants after a night of clubbing:
