The dudes at Playing for Change decided to put together a mobile recording studio (okay, a laptop and some microphones) and then set out to link musicians around the world in song through the wonders of digital recording.  
In the version of Stand By Me below, the song starts with a street musician in California. <p>The dudes at <a href="http://www.playingforchange.com/journey/introduction">Playing for Change</a> decided to put together a mobile recording studio (okay, a laptop and some microphones) and then set out to link musicians around the world in song through the wonders of digital recording.  </p>
<p>In the version of <em>Stand By Me</em> below, the song starts with a street musician in California.  Playing for Change then took the basic track and added musicians from around the world, including a blind singer from New Orleans,  and singers and musicians from the Netherlands, Africa, Brazil and Russia.</p>
<p>The final result is a moving tribute to the power of music and the power of working together.</p>
