Have you seen some of the Onion Sports Network clips floating around YouTube and other video outlets? They are absolutely hilarious. For those of you unfamiliar, The Onion delivers the snarky, false side of news and does it in a way that makes you go “waa?” and then “hahaha.” They have a series of video clips that deal with sports stories, like this one:

In a press release, Comedy Central announced that it has worked out a deal for The Onion to do a scripted comedy series that will “take on the whole universe of modern sports — teams, players, leagues, sycophantic fans, ridiculous products and over-hyped sports coverage.” Should be a gem, and I’m sure you all will find humor in it. And doesn’t the world need a little more humor?

“Reno 911” Has Been Canceled

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Comedy Central has pulled the plug on their mockumentary Reno 911! I have to say that it’s lasted a lot longer than I ever expected. Co-creator/star, Thomas Lennon, announced the cancellation via Twitter since the network hadn’t released an official statement. How classy.

I don’t know if this makes me a jerk (since I recently reviewed the sixth season and found it someone funny) but I’m not crying in my soup over this one. Besides, it’s time for Lennon to move on and cultivate his acting career since I thought he definitely stood out in 17 Again and I Love You, Man.

There’s been no word on what Comedy Central is planning to air during Reno 911!’s preview timeslot.

Jon Heder Gets Comedy Central Show

Jon Heder might not be a household name (yet) but he’s definitely carving a niche for himself. I remember the first time I saw Napoleon Dynamite. I was bedridden with pneumonia and I had to contain most of my laughter throughout the film (it hurt to laugh). When it got to that infamous dance scene, I completely lost it. I was in such hysterics that I had to take pain medication and go right to be afterwards. I just imagined what it would have been like to see something like that at my high school and I laughed until I cried (literally).

While Blades of Glory was easily one of the cheesiest movies I have ever watched (okay, it was pretty terrible), but I couldn’t help but laugh at how Heder played off of Will Ferrell. I think that, considering the script and strange plot, Heder was still pretty funny.

Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Heder, Ferrell and Adam McKay are collaborating to create a sitcom on Comedy Central. So far the network has ordered 10 episodes of the show which features Heder as “as an out-of-work computer IT specialist who returns to his small hometown and moves in with his parents and younger brother.” It’s being described as a “multicamera comedy” so I’m curious about how that’s going to turn out.

Incredibly, the network has agreed to order 90 more episodes of the first 10 are well-received by viewers. That’s a HUGE deal. Yeah, I know the budget on Comedy isn’t great but it’s still major. This could really springboard Heder into the mainstream if all goes well.

Damn, Felicia Day is everywhere. From The Guild to Dr. Horrible to machinima sitcoms, this organic online video star is on a roll. Now she appears as a neurotic fairy in The Legend of Neil, a parody of The Legend of Zelda created by her Guild costar Sandeep Parikh.

Yes, I know The Legend of Neil is produced by Comedy Central, which is owned by Viacom, which is a bunch of douchebags. I’ll let that slide just this once, just for Felicia.
