Roger Federer, Derek Jeter and Tiger Woods all appear in a new ad campaign for Gillette razors. The trio struts their stuff to the “Staying Alive” tune and broke out the 70’s look with their black leather, wide collared shirts and kickin’ shoes. Federer married his longtime girlfriend Miroslava ‘Mirka’ Vavrinec on Saturday, April 11th.
They are expecting their first child and are seeking out a name for their son. Do you have any suggestions? You can see photos from their Switzerland wedding at Gototennisblog.com. The couple looks so happy and had one beautiful wedding. Check out the Gillette …read more
Rookies Showing Us How Easy It Is

A couple of weeks ago I posted the video of a commercial that’s been hitting the small screen lately that’s promoting just how easy it is to use Windows Live Photo Gallery.
It’s a part of a larger series all focused around "rookies" or novices using Windows products and applications.
The question we raised before that we’ll keep asking. Is it really that simple? Some people think so, but I’m interested in hearing more opinions from people that haven’t made it to the small screen commercial career yet.
Is Microsoft Honestly Ignoring Vista

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I really do enjoy the PC vs. Mac TV commercials. I think they’re extremely creative and entertaining. I don’t feel they are exactly based on facts or research though.
The one above for instance implies that Microsoft is spending only a fraction of their money into actually improving Vista.
The other interesting commercial out recently is the one where PC has a buzzer and "censors" the word "Vista" anytime it’s said.

Microsoft Isn’t Going to Take It Anymore

I’m a big fan of the Apple/PC commercials, but it’s not because they enlighten me on the truth between the two computers. It’s because they’re well done and funny. Microsoft is tired of the the commercials being taken as fact and will be starting a campaign to battle that mindset.
In a clear dig at Apple (NSDQ:AAPL) and it’s ‘I’m a PC, I’m a Mac’ advertisements, Brooks suggested that Microsoft is preparing to retaliate against "noisy competitors" with a major new multi-million dollar advertising campaign, something that many channel partners have been hoping the software giant would do for months.

Mac Commercials Challenge

I was speaking with a friend of mine a few days ago and we got to talking about the new Mac ads. He had the suggestion that to really push the software and show what it can do, instead of just talking about how cool it is not to be a PC, is to completely develop and produce the Mac commercials using an out of the box Apple computer that an everyday consumer would use.
How about it Apple? Are you up to the challenge?

Maybe not a star, but you can now dress like your favorite computer manufacturer’s equipment personified as humans. Didn’t catch that? You can now figure out exactly what you need to wear to be the Mac Guy or the PC Guy. And just in time for Halloween!
Get all the details at Forever Geek at their post Dress Like a Mac … Or a PC!
Two things. I originally named the graphic above macguywear.jpg, and I thought, “Wow! That looks alot like MacGyver!” If you think about it, MacGyver is a nice combination of Mr. PC and Mr. Mac. Casual, yet sophisticated, …read more
I like Macs

To clarify just a little bit, I like Macs. They’re just not my currently preferred hardware of choice. Given my recent post you may have thought otherwise. If I were in the market for a new computer, I might choose a Mac over a PC. There are some factors that will go against that like price, peripherals, etc.
It’s interesting that my friend also recently commented on the same commercial I did, but from the other angle. Let me also clarify that from a marketing perspective, it was a good commercial. Apple definitely got their point across. The most interesting comment …read more
