Nearly Half of Working Americans in Medical Debt

A new report from the Commonwealth Fund indicates that 79 million Americans are suffering under the burden of medical debt or medical bill problems, or 41% of working-age Americans. This data hardly comes as a surprise, considering that 9 million Americans have lost their health insurance coverage since 2000. But are medical costs due only to the growing number of uninsured?

Commonwealth Fund to Release Health System Scorecard

The Commonwealth Fund is expected to release its second annual U.S. Health System Scorecard on Thursday, and it’s expected to report that while the U.S. spends nearly twice as much per person on health care as other industrialized countries, the U.S. ranks last among those countries in terms of quality of care.
