Water Cooled Computer Setup Rocks

Laptops are cool and some of these laptops are so powerful like the Alienware Area-51 that you can actually bring them to your Weekend gaming party and play games that demand the most hardware  requirements. These laptops would be able to hold their own against powerful desktop machine setups.

No matter how powerful your laptop is, it wouldn’t be as cool as a CPU cooled by water. Yup, I did say water. That is so rocking cool.

Tech Recovery for 2009

The economy has been down for quite sometime and computer heavyweights like Intel have closed offshore shops this year in various places worldwide.

It seems that the industry is seeing some positive signs and are predicting a strong finish in 2009. The demand for microprocessors have increased and Intel has changed it’s third quarter forecasft from $ 8.1 billion dollars to $ 9.2 billion dollars. Other heavyweights like HP and Dell has also increased they forecast saying that third quarter would have a spurt in computer sales. I am not sure if Windows 7 has anything to do with …read more

Know Details About of Your Hardware

You are not a geek and could not find your way to various parts and areas of your computer. That’s not a problem as you can always hire a techie and do the looking for you in situations where you need to get information about your box.

Before you go ahead and spend the extra dollars for the techie person, you can download Belarc Advisor which is an application that does all the work for you. It goes through every component of your computer, ask questions from manufactured date, to firmware including the installed software.

How to Stop Relying on Others for the Simple Stuff

I had a request asked of me the other day that confused me for a bit. Someone wanted me to email directions to someone else. Two thoughts came to my mind, the first of which was trying to determine at what point I was going to get around to doing that simple, little task. The second thought was why in the world did I need to be the one to complete the simple little task?

We’ve all heard the analogy of giving a man a fish or teaching him to fish. The same holds true for technology. I can keep doing …read more

Fragegg, Your Social Gaming Network

If you are a reader of our Everyjoe.com, you are probably a member of many social networking site(s). A new social gaming network which targets players of free to play casual MMOs called Fragegg, is on the horizon.
Members of Fragegg use avatar based characters to communicate (think Maple Story). They are being provided with social feeds which inform the users what other players are currently doing on the platform, as well as what they are doing in certain games.
A virtual currency (Stareggs) is used to purchase avatar items and pimp your character. Currently, 21 free MMO games are listed, DarkOrbit, …read more

Some Computer Basics 101

I had a good conversation recently with someone and we were talking about a variety of things, but one of the general thoughts was that it’s interesting what we don’t think about in our areas of strengths. For instance, many people look at me as a the “computer geek” because of what I know about computers.

I on the other hand think about my computer skills and see all the other things I wish I knew how to do or just knew more about. More than general networking stuff? I think I’m clueless. Hard-core programming, LOADS of information to still digest …read more

Laptop Screen Breaks

I am reading this article where the author answers the question of what the user should do when his laptop screen breaks?

He says that when the user starts his computer and hears some mechanical sound, make sure you turn if off because it could be your hard disk destroying data. In case there is no sound, it is likely that the hard drive is good and the monitor is the only one affected. If you don’t see anything on the screen, try plugging the laptop to any monitor and see if it works.
This should work for the time being especially …read more

Ditching Your Cable Box for the Wii

The question about the value of subscribing to the Internet came up again for me this weekend. The discussion wasn’t so much around what video is available on the Internet, but more on the devices available to help you ditch the cable box for something else.
Of course you can access the Internet from your laptop and then stream video to your TV using a variety of options, but I found out this weekend that there’s a potential option for using the Nintendo Wii to serve as your Internet video portal in your living room.
There’s an Internet channel that you can …read more
