Facebook when it first came out was a revelation for me but over time my time spent on the site has declined. Mainly because it feels to me slow and messy in some way. Now I don’t mean in any way that I don’t use Facebook but I use it less and less. Conversely my use of Twitter has increased.

Why? Well it is easier to spot the spam accounts or the people who want to sell me things and block them from my account. I found it interesting that over at The Daily Blagica they show that marketers are linking now more in Twitter than Facebook.

Maybe that is because Twitter is more conversational and in some ways more about passing information around, Facebook is more about connections? Facebook, with the use of Pages and Groups may pass the links in a different way?

However, I hope that this does not mean that companies fall back on traditional ‘telling’ marketing via Twitter…it is lazy marketing and doesn’t engage customers. Networking and conversational marketing is not about talking about you, it is about talking about what matters most to your customers, to your network, to your connections.

However, on the other side it does show how Twitter is growing in importance in sharing information.
