An interesting conversation took place today. The discussion centered around copyright, inventions and patents. The reality of the world around us has nearly completely detached itself from the ideas and laws around the ideas of property and intellectual rights.
We spoke about developing software and if that software is then copyrighted, would that also hinder the type of code or chunks of code that were used in the various functions of the application. Google to Copyright Proof YouTube
Google plans on introducing a system which will automatically filter out copy written materials from being posted on YouTube.
According to the plan, Google intends on maintaining a library of digital video fingerprints that would be used by a computer system to screen clips being uploaded to YouTube. This is according to Philip Beck, one of the attorneys representing Google and YouTube. According to Beck the screening process would take only a few minutes to determine whether a clip is copyright material.
