The core of your body is the base of your strength.  To build a stronger core, you’ll want to hit your abs hard.  Below are eight exercises that will help tighten up your abs and provide the foundation to a stronger body.

Exercise Ball Abs – Abs on an unstable ball forces your muscles to work harder and builds balance.
Bicycles – a natural shredder of your stomach that bolsters coordination.

How Important is Your Core?

The core of your body is very important to your weight lifting abilities. If you find yourself in a lull or unsatisfied with the fruits of your labor, go back to your foundation and make sure the base of your body is strong. Once the base is solid, then start expanding your strength into your limbs and other muscles.
Good core exercises:
sit-ups
bridges
twists w/ weight
back extensions
leg raises (from laying flat on the ground)
leg adductors
leg abductors
toe reaches
With a good core comes numerous benefits: better balance, better power, less injuries, improved stability when lifting weights, and other similar positive effects.

Strengthen Your Core For More

Your body core (link explains what your core muscles are) is very important to how much weight you can lift – even on exercises such as bench press and curls that don’t directly engage your core muscles.  What can core do for you?
