This is the final regular season giveaway for our create the caption contest. This week’s picture is of Minnesota Twins outfielders Denard Span and Carlos Gomez crashing into each other during Thursday’s game. Neither player was able to come up with the ball on this play, however the Twins won in the 10th inning to take over first place in the American League Central.

Can you come up with a funny caption for this image? If yours is the best entry, you will win one pack of Upper Deck 2008 First Edition Update (with Josh Beckett on the front) baseball cards. Congratulations to the Los Angeles Angels for clinching the American League West. Here’s a picture of the Angels celebrating in the locker room after clinching. Can you come up with a funny caption? The 2008 Major League Baseball season is coming up on its last month before the playoffs. The New York Mets and interim manager Jerry Manuel have a one-and-a-half game lead in the National League East over the Philadelphia Phillies. Life is good for the new skipper.

So just what has Manuel cracking up in this picture? Looks like Sandy Alomar, Sr. has pointed out something that Manuel finds funny. Why don’t you tell us what he laughing at. The best entry will win a pack of 2008 Upper Deck First Edition baseball cards, courtesy of Inside the Ballpark.

Did you see Coco Crisp going all out in an attempt to rob a home run by Baltimore Orioles catcher Ramon Hernandez? Here’s a perfect freeze frame of the action, as you see Crisp just diving over the wall and the ball hitting in the bullpen next to him.

I apologize for the delay – however, I have finally made it around to pick the winner for the Albert Pujols picture. This week’s winner is Kevin from North Dakota, who sent in an email on Saturday morning. Kevin’s caption read, “Don’t pull a Buckner… play it from the ground up!”

After the July 4th weekend is finally over, I had a chance to look at this week’s submissions of the image of Jeter and A-Rod. I thought this would be a great picture for everyone to get a shot in on Alex Rodriguez and it happened just as I thought. So, this week’s winner is Gene P. It’s time for the July 4th edition of ‘Create the Caption’ at Inside the Ballpark. Alex Rodriguez has announced that he and his wife are splitting. The New York Yankees are still somewhat of a mystery this season. What could Derek Jeter possibly be saying to the Yankees third baseman?
