Yeah, you saw that right. From this post on, every month six and out would dedicate the month to some cricketer who I feel strongly about. Throughout the month, I would garner facts and trivia about the person. Should be fun.

So, Why Neil Harvey? Is it because cricket blogs were better in his day? Maybe. Lets see what I can dig up about him.

India to back Zimbabwe

This is regarding expulsion of the Zimbabwe cricket team. The Indian Cricket Setup has been known for ages as the perennial peer-helpers. The Indian Cricket Team toured Sri Lanka, South Africa and Bangladesh when they started or restarted their test journey.

So now, when the entire world (read England and South Africa) wants Zimbabwe to be kicked out of the ICC because they have a dictator who means no good (according to England and South Africa) to the world and to his own countrymen, India has taken the higher moral ground conveying that it is not the fault of the budding Taibus and Mazakadzas of the world that they are ruled by a dictator. India has also tried to convey that all teams needing practice are too bored of the ever confident Bangladesh.

Switch Hitting is fine, but I have a problem

Was busy with my exams those days, so my switch hitting post is here. Its all right about it being not-illegal and not-legal and all that thing, but the question I have is :

Suppose a right handed batsman is switch hitting (a bowler faster than Scott Retirees), he becomes a left handed batsman, and I do no have a problem with that! What I have a problem is, the batting gloves. Anyone who has played cricket knows that the bottom hand (right) thumb has padding while the top hand thumb doesn’t. So, when the guy switches, he is a left handed batsman with no padding on his bottom hand. If the ball hits his thumb, he is so fulton-ed.

This should be a concern, or maybe everyone is not as mad as KP.

Asia Cup 2008 Super League : India rout Bangladesh

India completed yet another professional match in their Professional Match winning streak by completely routing Bangladesh in the first match of the super 4s in the ongoing Asia Cup 2008 in Karachi, Pakistan.

When Bangladesh began well, about 60/1 in 10 overs (much better than Pakistan), MSD decided to let them score as many as they could, as Raina was there to get it (no Sehwag in this match). The Bangladeshis swelled with pride after getting 283 in their alloted overs, with Ian Chappel even going on to say strange things (it runs in the family), knowing little that the Indians wanted more and more batting practice and wouldn’t have minded 359.

Alok comeback-kid Kapali scored a ton. Well played. Period.

When India came on to bat, Raina completed his 300 runs in 3 outings (yes, another ton) in this series. Gambhir got 90 odd. Rohit Sharma dissappoined (Sachin, where art thou?), though it didn’t matter. We chase everything in 42 overs.

This is the most blogspace Bangladesh deserve, so I am off.

First of all, I am really sorry, for not posting for a week. The reasons were beyond my control. Being a student, exams are unavoidable. So, a lot seems to have happened in my absence, the least being the critics’ scribbles on the Beau Casson post. All I have to say to that is that I may have got carried away, and he may be good. So, this is an apology, respecting the views of my readers

a 10 million pound cricket match – England vs Stanford Superstars

All of us know that Allen Stanford has lost it. The rest know that he has some brains. The only one left is me, and I think that this would be fun to watch. Texas Billionaire Allen Stanford, after signing a deal with the England and Wales Cricket Board, has announced that England would play an all star team from his Stanford Twenty20 competition and the winner would be richer by 10 million pounds. If you ask what I think of the money, I would say that “well, its huge, too much I reckon. Give me some of it and see how i become funnier than uncle J Rod“

Someone was brave enough, maybe his relative, asked Mr. Bigmoneyford the reason for such extravagance, and the reply was (no matter how much he wanted to say that it was his wife’s wish in bed):

“It breaks my heart to see us at the bottom. I want to take West Indies cricket from the bottom to the top where it belongs.
“The Stanford 20/20 for 20 will be a highly anticipated event, not just because of the prize money, but because of the traditional friendly rivalry that exists between England and the West Indies.”

As Geoffery Boycott would say, “ma grandMUM can hit this with ‘er stick ‘o Rubab”; Mrs. Boycott, could you please wield that massive alchemical stick o’ rubab and smack Stanford’s head with it! PLEASE, for chrissake!

If you have this much of cash leaking out of your safe, then please open thousands of cricket academies all over the Carribean. Maybe he is also doing that. Even then, this much money is not warranted at all, no matter how much Tim May wants to kill me right now.

As if this post was necessary. As if I haven’t told all of you that Bangladesh should be given some time before they are sent to top flight cricket. But no one would listen. Yet another loss. And that too against the biggest give-hope-to minnows team in the world – Pakistan.

I wanted to write that Bangladesh bowled well; but no : most of the wickets were due to careless batting.

I wanted to write that Salman Butt played well for his 70 in this curtailed (40 Over) match; but no, the bowling wasn’t that good.

The situation was summed up really well when, needing about 80 in the last over, Md. Ashraful conceded a maiden. Its clear that this cricket team (Bangladesh) is content with losing all the time. They are content with their every win being called an upset. I am upset now. They are the 10th most populous country in the world, surely they have talent. THEY HAVE TO COME OUT OF THIS ROT! India is next for them and I can guarantee another mauling, looking at the Indian team.

Lets see.
