The word "twanker" was conceived as a result of some crowdsourcing by Jeffrey Hayzlett, Chief Marketing Officer at Kodak, during the 140 Characters Conference in New York last month. He shared about the origins in on his 1000 words blog.

Say what? You don’t know what a "twanker" is these days? I’ll bet you can guess that it has something to do with twitter because every word that starts with "tw…" these days has to be related to twitter somehow right?

The word "twanker" was conceived as a result of some crowdsourcing by Jeffrey Hayzlett, Chief Marketing Officer at Kodak, during the 140 Characters Conference in New York last month. He shared about the origins in on his 1000 words blog.

The combination comes from being a "wanker" on twitter. Wanker of course comes from the popular term from merry ol’ England and other British areas. It basically means a jerk, idiot, moron or stupid person.

Combining it with twitter gives you someone being like that on the micro-blogging social network.

I like the term, now I’ll be on the lookout and call people out. Join me and we can just go ahead and start using the hashtag of #twanker so people can see examples of other usage.
