Remember how sweet Crysis looks? Who’d forget? It’s still probably punishing your PC when you try blowing up 3,000 barrels and looking at it for more than two seconds. Well, the game engine that brought Crysis to life has done it again. Remember the Sony Bravia ad that showed all those cute bouncing balls? The video below does almost the same thing.

The main differences between the two? For starters, the CryEngine 2 ad uses computer graphics. Another thing: CryEngine 2 rendered pots instead of balls in real time. If you don’t remember the Bravia ad or you just haven’t seen [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

Remember how sweet Crysis looks? Who’d forget? It’s still probably punishing your PC when you try blowing up 3,000 barrels and looking at it for more than two seconds. Well, the game engine that brought Crysis to life has done it again. Remember the Sony Bravia ad that showed all those cute bouncing balls? The video below does almost the same thing.

The main differences between the two? For starters, the CryEngine 2 ad uses computer graphics. Another thing: CryEngine 2 rendered pots instead of balls in real time. If you don’t remember the Bravia ad or you just haven’t seen it before, watch the clip below:

Now watch the CryEngine 2 video again and wipe that drool off your face (I know I did). Looks like this video blows Valve’s aging Source engine out of the water. I wonder how Unreal Engine 3 stacks up against Crytek’s.

Originally, September 25 is a red-letter day not only for Xbox 360 owners, but for PC gamers as well. You see, having the Crysis demo on this day is supposed to ease the pain of not having an Xbox 360 or play Halo 3 with the millions of fans that lined up to get their copies of 2007’s most-anticipated shooter.

Unfortunately, the PC gamers won’t be able to get a taste of Crysis on said date. According to CVG, the demo will be available on October 26 instead. Why the delay?

Originally, September 25 is a red-letter day not only for Xbox 360 owners, but for PC gamers as well. You see, having the Crysis demo on this day is supposed to ease the pain of not having an Xbox 360 or play Halo 3 with the millions of fans that lined up to get their copies of 2007’s most-anticipated shooter.

Unfortunately, the PC gamers won’t be able to get a taste of Crysis on said date. According to CVG, the demo will be available on October 26 instead. Why the delay?

<o> </o>

Crytek and EA reasoned that they’re “taking some extra time to make sure you that you have an amazing experience but also we did not want to risk the release date of Crysis at this stage.”<o></o>

<o> </o>

Let me get this straight: the demo was delayed so that the game’s launch would be in time?<o></o>

<o> </o>

Hooey.<o></o>

<o> </o>

The real reason is the release of Halo 3, and we all know it. Their beloved <s>resource hog</s> shooter won’t get any attention this week if they decide to push the demo on September 25 because everybody is playing Halo 3.

<o> </o>

The upside in all this? Crytek has revealed what that “huge surprise” was. Apparently, it’s the CryENGINE 2’s Sandbox 2 game editor. Hey, Far Cry had one, right? Boy, we didn’t see that one coming.
