On the season, the 5-foot-10 playmaker had 41 rush attempts for 197 yards and one rushing touchdown. He also has 17 receptions for 130 yards and one receiving touchdown. While his numbers are down this season, the Eagles will welcome him with open arms in their critical contest against the Cowboys.

With the Giants currently struggling, the winner of the Week 9 battle will have the leg up in the NFC East. Both teams are playing well — as the Eagles have won two in a row and the Cowboys have won three in a row.

Westbrook typically plays well against the Cowboys. The way it sounds health-wise, he should have an opportunity to add to that history this weekend.

Austin started Week 5 due to Roy Williams missing the game with an injury. If Austin is going to see more action, who will see less action? Williams has a big contract and it’s unlikely he’d happily accept a bench role. That leaves the other starting wide receiver — Patrick Crayton. Crayton has been productive at times but Austin may have just leapfrogged him in the depth chart.

Even without Williams and Jones, the Cowboys should still win their Week 5 game against the Chiefs. If they don’t, the angry Cowboys fans could want some changes in Big D — whether it be at quarterback, head coach or elsewhere in the organization.

If Barber is back in action, he will likely regain his starting spot. Tashard Choice, who played well last week, will be Barber’s backup with Jones out.

In Week 4, the Cowboys take on the Denver Broncos. With both teams equipped with a strong defense and a struggling offense, you can expect a low scoring game this weekend.

Barber’s injury was confirmed via an MRI on Monday. While the Cowboys are saying that Barber is receiving treatment in an attempt to play this weekend against the Carolina Panthers, many media reports indicate that Barber will likely have to miss at least one game.

If the Cowboys want to play it safe, they may keep Barber out of action for the next three games so that they can take advantage of their Week 6 bye. Over the course of the next three weeks, the Cowboys have three very winnable games against the Panthers, Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs.

To begin the 2009 NFL season, Barber has been very good. In Week 1, he had 79 rushing yards on 14 attempts and a touchdown. In Week 2 prior to getting injured, Barber had 18 carries for 124 yards and a touchdown. He also had two receptions for 31 yards.

If Barber can’t go, the Cowboys will hand the ball off to backup running backs Felix Jones and Tashard Choice.

On another occasion this training camp, Scandrick hit Williams so hard that the wide receiver’s helmet came flying out.

This is obviously another setback for Williams, who hasn’t looked overly sharp so far. He has had some drops and his route running has come into question. Add his injury woes and there’s no doubt Dallas Cowboys fans are nervous about whether or not Williams can fill T.O.’s large shoes this season.

Considering that the Cowboys aren’t blessed with a lot of depth at wide receiver, they can’t afford for Williams to miss any regular season games. If he does, the Cowboys may be forced to sign or trade for a veteran wide receiver.

Hear that, Tony Romo? Romo isn’t the entire team, but like any quarterback he gets the attention and blame at times. More than that, however, he can set an example.

When Jones addressed his team, Romo and his flying off to Cabo was the first thing that popped into my mind. Granted, Jessica Simpson is NOT to blame for Romo’s poor play, rather, I think the choices he made while with her certainly didn’t reflect a serious quarterback that wants to get to the Super Bowl. Heck, or even one that wants to get to the playoffs.

It’s not just Romo’s girlfriend that was the problem. Romo trying out repeatedly for any golf tournament that would have him rather than just focusing on football showed that perhaps he isn’t getting the very message that Jones is trying to get across: We don’t have forever to win this thing.

Jesse Holley, a former backup point guard at North Carolina, has been named the winner of Michael Irvin’s reality show called “4th and Long”. The reality show, which aired on Spike, was hosted and organized by Irvin with the goal to find a player that could potentially help the Dallas Cowboys.

Holley, who is 6-foot-3 and about 215 pounds, is a wide receiver with good speed and good size for the position. While he had a little bit of experience with the Cincinnati Bengals a few years ago, he’s yet to hit the big time.

In “4th and Long”, Irvin took a look at six wide receivers and six defensive backs. After all was said and done, Holley came out as the player who Irvin thinks has the best chance to make it in the NFL.

Irvin told the Associated Press that he thinks that Holley is more than just a reality show gimmick and that he thinks the wide receiver could survive training camp with the Cowboys.

Said Irvin: “There’s a great opportunity for my guy, Jesse, to do some wonderful things. I think the world of Jesse. I don’t think he’ll let us down. I would not be a bit surprised if you guys end up saying, ‘Wow, look at what this guy has become.’”

A recent rumor had Marvin Harrison likely headed to the Minnesota Vikings to potentially team up with Brett Favre. The latest Marvin Harrison rumor has him headed to the Dallas Cowboys as Big D bolsters its wide receiving corps to compensate for the loss of Terrell Owens.
While this rumor sounds like a longshot, Jerry Jones is known to make surprise moves. Signing the future Hall of Fame wide receiver would definitely be a surprise.

Harrison is coming off of a season in which he didn’t perform up to his normal standards. He finished the campaign with 60 receptions with 636 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

Considering that Harrison will be 37 years old by the start of the 2009 NFL season, it’s questionable if he has much left in the tank. If the Cowboys do sign him, Harrison would probably start opposite of Roy Williams and ahead of Miles Austin.

All in all, this rumor isn’t as strong as the Marvin Harrison to the Vikings rumors we heard earlier in the week.

In a press release, John Howarth (the owner of Riot Entertainment) was excited about the Free Reign’s future.

Said Howard: “Free Reign is a band with massive potential. There has been an enormous buzz surrounding them since they appeared on the scene a few months ago. Free Reign has already been flooded with endorsements. Their marketing potential is limitless. These guys are already huge sports stars, but they have shown they have the talent to diversify.”

If the Cowboys don’t win a Super Bowl this season on the football field, perhaps they can at least take home a Grammy.
