I posed a simple question in my post. I asked, who would want to coach the Nets now? Well, according to SI.com, Patrick Ewing is interested. The former NBA All-Star has been an assistant coach for the past seven seasons. Apparently, he’s ready for a new challenge.

Taking over as head coach for the Nets would certainly be a challenge. Maybe Ewing wants a chance to prove that he has what it takes to be a head coach in the NBA. If he can turn this team around, he’ll definitely earn his stripes.

Nets general manager, Kiki Vandeweghe will take over as head coach for the time being. According to ESPN.com, Vandeweghe played 13 seasons in the NBA with four teams and was a two-time All-Star. His only coaching experience came in Dallas, under Don Nelson. Despite his lack of experience, Vandeweghe has one thing going for him — if he can win at least one game then he’s one up on Frank.

Ewing Wants To Coach The New Jersey Nets

There were also rumors circulating that “The Answer” is frustrated and discontent with his new reserve role for Memphis. Iverson is used to being the star and the go-to player. He’s not used to coming off the bench in a supporting role.

Allen Iverson is considering retiring after 14 seasons in the NBA.

But this is the way it is, and Iverson isn’t the player he used to be.  Somehow,  his selfishness and ego have always managed to get in the way of his success and it’s the main reason why Memphis was the only team who expressed interest in signing him in the off-season. Terrible teams will take risks on players with poor personalities. Look at Terrell Owens.  After he left Dallas, his lack of production and off-putting personality hindered his chances of signing with a playoff-caliber team. Instead, he landed in Buffalo where his numbers are shaping up to be the worst of his NFL career.

Iverson is in a similar situation. But rather than suffer through what is sure to be a disappointing NBA season, he’d rather call it quits.

It’s a shame that he has to go out like this.  But unfortunately,  “The Answer” has run out of answers.

Iverson Contemplating Retirement

Dr. Paul Pepe, head of Dallas EMS, says that no one is in a life-threatening situation right now. Names haven’t been announced for the most part, but the most serious injuries were someone with head trama, someone with an open leg racture, and someone who was impaled with falling metal. Special teams coach Joe DeCamillis also broke his back.

There were 27 new players working out when the roof collapsed. Others in the building included coaches and members of the media. Among the players drafted that were probably working out at the minicamp includ the following players:

• Stephen McGee, Texas A&M
• Victor Butler, Oregon State
• Brandon Williams, Texas Tech,
• DeAngelo Smith, Cincinnati

Again, nothing is confirmed – these are just players that could have potentially been there.

Newly Drafted Cowboys Hurt During Collapse

Says Dallas mayor Tom Leppert,

“This is a great football city. Dallas would be a great place for it. They’ve been very open to the ideas that we’re putting forward.”

The group is willing to pay for the entire cost to move the Hall of Fame by raising funds privately. The hall would be beside a planned hotel in the heart of the city, and the group believe they have a chance at winning the vote because National Football Foundation president and CEO Steve Hatchell is a long-time resident of Dallas.

Dallas Leaders Rally to Move NCAA-F HoF

Normally, I’d say the whole “gotta get to the hospital” is a worn out excuse, except that this time the guy was really at the hospital! It was obvious he wasn’t lying.

Moats’ wife, Tamishia, said the police officer was ” pointing a gun at me as soon as I got out of the car. It was the weirdest feeling because I’ve never had a gun pointed at me before under those circumstances.”

It seems that Moats handled himself well throughout the whole thing. He decided to put his hands on the car where the officer could see them right away. “He didn’t ask me to put my hands on the car. I just did it to try to protect myself. I was pleading with him.”

He took his time writing a ticket and continued to tell Moats that he could arrest him if he wanted to. Check out the video of the whole incident here. Apparently the officer is on administrative leave now.

Now, I’m not a big Wheel of Fortune fan, but there must be some out there for Sony to sock the $ into making this game and then releasing it. Then again, if you think about it, Sony doesn’t have to worry about packaging costs since they’re releasing it on the PSN.

Spin, Solve and Win with Wheel of Fortune

The most recent face of beer is, in fact, Jessica Simpson. The blonde singer/actress is not the spokeswoman for Stampede Light Plus, brewed by Stampede Brewing Co of Dallas, Texas (I’ll warn you before you click – the theme song is really annoying).

According to the Dallas Morning News, Simpson will appear in ads for the beer. Reportedly, she has also secured 15% of the brewery – no further details are available yet. Simpson has said that she is “always looking for ways to diversify my portfolio with good ideas and good people.” That portfolio expanded to include a new perfume, Simpson’s “Fancy”, and beer as of this month.

I’m guessing that Stampede is trying to capitalize on Simpson’s new “country girl” image with the campaign – we’ll see how that works out for them. You can read what Beer Advocate had to say about it here.
