That’s how many Jets fans are excited to have Favre.

I’m not so sure Favre is as excited. Sure, he’s happy to be out of Green Bay. But, he had no choice where he was headed. If he had been able to choose, he would have gone to Tampa Bay over New York.

According to Dan Patrick, Favre wasn’t given an option. An inside source told DP that Favre wasn’t even treated with respect when he showed up at the Packers stadium. He showed up to participate in practice, as he was reinstated. Security was told to NOT let him in. He then tried to go up to a suite to watch a scrimmage and, again, security told him he was not allowed.

What is up with that? Mike McCarthy said that Green Bay made every effort to welcome Favre back and discuss his options. That doesn’t sound like much of a welcome to me.

The fact is that the Packers never had any intention of bringing Favre back to the team. And I think they handled this entire situation poorly.

Not surprisingly, Favre told the Jets he wouldn’t be able to promise them more than one year.

Also, ESPN didn’t unearth the fact that the Jets got Favre. The story was discovered by Jay Glazer of Fox Sports. ESPN failed to credit him.

The Jets Website Crashed Because Of Favre

According to the Dan Patrick Show, Manny Ramirez might be involved in a multi-player deal which would send him to the Florida Marlins.

***UPDATE***3:45 p.m.
According to ESPN, this deal has fallen through.

Manny is a good ball player and the Red Sox are giving up a major offense contributor. But his comments and antics are outshining his talent. When it comes to that, you just have to move on because the negative outweighs the positive.

Other trade news includes Ken Griffey Jr. going to the White Sox, Rich Harden to the Chicago Cubs, and Ivan Rodriguez to the Yankees. CC Sabathia was dealt to the Brewers earlier this month and it looks as though that trade is paying off for Milwaukee.

Manny Ramirez To The Marlins?

Brett Favre says he was willing to go to camp and compete for his job. The Packers said that there was no competition, Aaron Rogers was getting the starting job regardless.

There’s talk of a trade, but so far that’s all there is — talk.

Favre still isn’t resigned either. So what now? Is he going to have to stay retired?

Here’s an update I heard from Peter King on the Dan Patrick Show this morning:

King: “The bottom line is that Favre could retire. I know he wants to play again but this thing has so many layers there are no absolutes. There is a lot of tension, and by Wednesday (if Favre shows up) it’s going to be hell here. There’s a lot of anger pointed at Ted Thompson. There will be cat calls and things like that. When Favre gets here it’s not going to be pretty. The only thing he wants is to be released. He’s forcing the Packers hand. He knows now that his future in Green Bay is over. He spoke with Ted Thompson, who told him on Saturday that they don’t want him back. As far as a trade goes, Thompson is trying to balance what is best for the team. But Favre doesn’t want to be traded. He wants to be released so he can pick the team. Wherever he ends up going, the motivation to stick it to the Packers is going to be pretty high on his list.”
