It is really kind of odd, but as a Lions fan that has watched both Matt Stafford and Daunte Culpepper very closely this year, it is very plain that right now as in the very next game, Daunte Culpepper is ready to lead this team to victory and Matt Stafford is not. The Squibster is not saying they will beat the Packers, just mentioning who looks ready.
No, the Squibster has not lost his mind. If you asked me personally and nobody has, it would be to start Matt Stafford …read more

Will Matt Stafford earn the starting job with the Detroit Lions?
He will for the Thursday night game. Daunte Culpepper and Drew Stanton are both injured and cannot play, so the Lions have signed two more quarterbacks.
The Lions on Tuesday signed two new quarterbacks — Brooks Bollinger and Kevin O’Connell — and now carry five on the roster. The addition of Bollinger and O’Connell was necessary to replace Daunte Culpepper and Drew Stanton, who missed Tuesday’s practice with injuries.

Drew Sharp is often the voice of doom in Detroit area sports and the Detroit Lions never fail to disappoint. Today Drew is harping on the quarterback battles going on in the state of Michigan. UofM’s Rich Rodriquez talks about starting 3 quarterbacks against Western Michigan and Drew sharply comments that starting 3 quarterbacks is coach speak for having none. Michigan State University has a QB battle going on between Keith Nichol and Kirk Cousins in spite of all the previous publicity claiming Nichol to be super quarterback.

Coach Jim Schwartz is very careful about how he handles the egos on the Detroit Lions. You might think there should be no egos after losing all of their games last year, but this is a whole new roster. Looking down the roster of starters for the second exhibition game only yields 5 familiar starting faces to the Squibster.
Getting to the point here, Schwartz named Matt Stafford to begin the 2nd exhibition game, just as he named Daunte Culpepper to begin the first exhibition game.
Schwartz wants to keep his …read more

Hey, didn’t he just retire? Oh, that’s right, quarterbacks can retire and still play, just ask Brett Favre.

Daunte Culpepper can’t find the football anymore
source newscom
They would not pay him what he is worth.
They would not give him roster guarantees.
So, Daunte will not play in the NFL. He retired.
What is the man thinking? Not too long ago he had one of the greatest seasons of any quarterback ever. Maybe it went to his head?
The Packers offered Culpepper a one-year, $1 million backup job in April. The Steelers offered him the veteran’s minimum ($730,000) last month after losing backup Charlie Batch for the season. In an e-mail …read more

You benched me? Squibster that better not happen again!
Wow, there they are, the Brady bunch.
Wes Welker, Donte Stallworth, and Randy Moss.
Who could have imagined that Tom Brady could go from throwing to guys whose faces were on milk cartons to throwing to these 3 players?
Star, Star, and Super Star (with a little tarnish)
Randy Moss continues to haunt me.
As a Viking, Randy hooked up with Daunte Culpepper to destroy my Detroit Lions over and over again. It got to the point that you just wanted to plant a safety …read more

Brett says, “Have you heard? We have a defense!”
It’s a tale of 5 quarterbacks.
Michael Vick pleaded guilty in court and suddenly he was all sorry and felt dog fighting was so terrible. Come on.
The plea was accepted by Hudson, who asked: “Are you entering the plea of guilty to a conspiracy charge because you are in fact guilty?”
Vick answered yes, and Hudson emphasized his broad latitude in sentencing.
“You’re taking your chances here. You’ll have to live with whatever decision I make,” he said.

No more orange shoes for Daunte
Daunte Culpepper has received his release from the Dolphins.
Miami released quarterback Daunte Culpepper on Tuesday, one day before a breach-of-contract grievance filed by the NFL Players Association on Culpepper’s behalf against the Dolphins was scheduled to be heard.
“As I was going through this process, I heard about a quote by Gandhi that best expresses my thoughts about this victory: ‘First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win,’ ” Culpepper, who serves as his own agent, said in an e-mail. …read more
