David Duval to Lose PGA Tour Card

Oh how the mighty have fallen–although with David Duval it wasn’t so much a sickening thud, as a steady decline into failure.  Now Duval has to face the ignominy of losing his PGA Tour card, eight years after winning his only major, the British Open.  The top 125 golfers on the money list receive full tour status for the following year, but after missing the cut at the Children’s Miracle Network Classic, Duval is projected to finish at No. 131 on the money list.

Buick Open Field Taking Shape

While many of the players on the PGA tour opted out of this week’s Canadian Open, others are announcing their commitment to play in the upcoming Buick Open. The tournament runs through August 2nd at the Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club, just outside of Flint, Michigan. Tiger Woods is the latest tour pro to announce his participation in the event. Duval In, Daly Out at U.S. Open

As the saying goes, “many are called, few are chosen.”  Unfortunately for John Daly, he was not one of those few.  Playing in a U.S. Open qualifier in Tennessee on Monday, Daly came up short in his bid to earn one of the thirteen spots available..  However, another former major winner fared much better in Columbus, Ohio at a different qualifying event.  2001 British Open champ David Duval was among those who qualified for a spot at next week’s U.S. Open, along with fellow British Open winner Tom Lehman.
