Look at the smile on the face of Spain’s Fernando Verdasco after winning the Davis Cup Final. Winning the Davis Cup for Spain has been a long time dream of Verdasco’s and today it has come true. Yes, I have chills as I am writing this. I love stories of dreams being fulfilled.

It seems that Verdasco has it all at the moment. A win for his team, who showed amazing team spirit as they mobbed him at the end. He has the beautiful French Open champion Ana Ivanovic as a girlfriend (who wasn’t there to see him win!). What is next for 25 year old Verdasco? I am not sure what the future holds for him, but what I do know is that right now, it’s time for him to celebrate! I am sure he will. Congratulations to Spain’s men’s tennis team on winning the Davis Cup!

Many predicted that Argentina would come away with the Davis Cup win, but Spain surprised everyone! Spain has defeated Argentina and won the Davis Cup! The pictures of the team on the day of the final are fantastic.

Fernando Verdasco defeated Jose Acasuso 6-3, 6-7 (3), 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 today, November 23rd. This is Spain’s third Davis Cup title. Argentina lost at home for the first time in 10 years. Ouch!

Even with injured player Rafael Nadal, who is ranked number 1, Spain won the best of five final 3 to 1.

Argentina player Juan Martin del Potro, ranked number 9, was also injured and was replaced by Acasuso, ranked 48.

Needless to say, this was an exciting day for Spain and they will be celebrating a huge victory. More pictures from today’s Davis Cup Final below.
