The PSM has been on a brief hiatus, but we’re back, and with a bevy of new PlayStation news. There’s something for pretty much anyone here, ranging from JRPG news to karaoke and racing game updates. Check out the headlines for more:

• Motorstorm: Pacific Rift is getting its first big update, which should fix most of the problems gamers have been having with the off-road racer.
• While PS3 gamers may have missed out on the first Dead Rising, it looks like the inevitable sequel may indeed be coming our way. Keep your fingers crossed.
• The wait is finally over, and the countdown on the Final Fantasy XIII website has led to…a new trailer.
• Shin Megami Tensei fans are in luck, as Atlus has announced Devil Summoner 2, which will be coming to the PlayStation 2 on May 12. But act quick, as there will apparently be very “limited quantities.”
• The SingStore is getting updated with a bunch of new songs, ranging from Kylie Minogue to Wings.
• Though it’s quite late, Capcom is insisting that the European version of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix is coming eventually.

And secure it to your head very firmly.

Consult Civil Defence for more information on how to prevent putrid zombie teeth from sinking into your soft brain.

If you’d prefer to join the ranks of the undead, be aware that Resident Evil 5 will be released on March 13, 2009.

It’s a suitable date for some reason, but I can’t imagine why.

The release info in the Electronic Theatre link promises all kinds of scary delights, including “true” high-definition gaming courtesy of the MT Framework engine, which powered Devil May Cry 4 and Dead Rising. Other sexiness includes two-player co-op and enough weapons to stabilise the Middle East ten times over.

Resident Evil 5’s release will also resurrect its old race controversy like Lazarus, but Capcom’s probably not going to brag about that.
