IPL Semis : Chennai professionally thrash Punjab

If you thought the first Semi Final was one sided enough, think again! This match really redefined one sided for me. Yuvraj’s…ahem….Preity’s boys came into the match with ultimate gusto and passion, as they always do. They were subjected to some great bowling from the Chennai Superkings.

Bundled out for a paltry 112, the end was always waiting for the formalities to be done. Piyush Chawla bowled really well, but the century partnership between Suresh Raina and Parthiv Patel stole the show. Congratulations Chennai. Hope to see Rajasthan beat you guys tomorrow in the final!

Oh yes, I am frustrated! Glen McGrath is on the top of my list of people I am frustrated with. This pitch had bounce, this pitch had carry, this pitch had movement. THIS PITCH HAD LIFE! Mr. Amit Mishra, this pitch HAD TURN FORGOSSAKE! You already know that despite all the above facts, Delhi allowed Rajasthan to get away and score 192. After that innings, I was thinking that this is a belter of a pitch and whenever you mention the term belter to Sehwag, he would say : “I’ll get it”. Maybe someone did….Maybe no one did. Whatever! He failed. Everyone failed.

Just look at the scorecard and it will tell you the story. I am frustrated…At the end of it all, it was funny to see McGrath urging Munaf to not bowl short at him. NOT!

I am so not impressed!

IPL Semis – Rajasthan Royals post 192

After a long hiatus, six and out is back! Was watching the first semi-final of the IPL between the Rajasthan Royals and the Delhi Daredevils. In previous meetings, both the teams have won their respective home games!

The match is being played in the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, certainly not anywhere near home for any of the two North Indian teams. Delhi, having won the toss, put in the Royals in to bat. Glen McGrath was at his worked up best when Swapnil Asanodkar started treating him like he would treat a certain Mr. Ankit Mishra if he thought about hanging up his gloves one fine day and take on fast bowling. Needless to say, the Bowling Machine wasn’t flattered. But that is a story for another post.

Meanwhile, Shane Watson showed why he needs to don the Aussie T20 colours (sleeveless) and Yusuf Pathan kinda justified his selection just today.

Lets see how the Delhi innings goes. Will be back after that…

First of all, thank you. YES YOU! ALL OF YOU! For the first time since man invented the wheel, six and out has touched 50k page views. There is a party for you too, if you can make it. To know more, ask me.

With the Deccan Chargers losing to Chennai Superkings tonight, all the four semi finalists of the inaugural DLF IPL have been decided. Not that I care as both my teams (Kolkata and Mumbai) are out. Anyway’s, for people too naive to not support Kolkata, they are

in that order of course. After watching some pretty insipidly boring test cricket over the past week, yeah yeah, the contest of bat and ball et al, and being reminded of the same by Uncle J Rod, I felt that since the business end of the biggest business in cricket (IPL you oxymoron) is on, lets focus on that and that itself. Lets take a look at the points table now:

Remaining games are Mumbai vs Bangalore and Rajasthan vs Punjab. As both of your eyes can see, these matches are useless unless you want semi final practice or you really love one of them caps (purple and orange).

SO, in the semis, Rajasthan play Delhi and Punjab play Chennai. Preview posts coming soon, if I am excited enough to write them!

Who do you think will win? Write in….cos I am too influenced by T20 experiences to forecast.

Shoaib, Shukla help Kolkata Knightriders Romp Delhi Daredevils

If ever there was a passionate game of cricket played, it was this one. Shah Rukh Khan, the owner, was jumping up and down the dugout as his team went about defending the midget-like total of 134. Yeah you heard that right. 134. Most of the batsmen had failed for the KKRs and now it was time for the debutante Shoaib Akhtar to justify his Price in the IPL.

In came Shoaib and Virendra Sehwag was out first ball he faced. Caught by the Keeper.
Then it was the turn of Gautam Gambhir as he fiddled with a wide one, just to be caught up at slip
In came ABcDe Villiers who though that Mr Steyn is the fastest of them all. Akhtar proved him wrong
Manoj Tiwary hadn’t faced anything faster than Dinda. He was caught plumb in front, one of those rarities when you don’t even have to appeal for a LBW

Shoaib’s Figures: 3-0-11-4

Another bloke, LR Shukla, took 3 in his first over (Delhi’s 18th) to end it for the Daredevils

IPL Roundup:

Laxman out of IPL
The Injury has made him be ruled out of the IPL. If I was a true Deccan fan, I would be Happy.

Ashwell Prince goes back to South Africa
His wife has had a baby and he would be back in a week. We wish him luck. BTW he plays for the Mumbai Indians. Still to make his IPL Debut.
