The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season is a war that is won by the racer and team that has the most consistent finish in all of the included races. Points are awarded on a race to race basis for both teams and racers, which are the basis for the standings that determine the overall winner at the end of the Sprint Cup Series. Winning a race is nice but to win the overall you need to do more than just win a race or two, you also need to have a good showing in the races you don’t win. To …read more

Denny Hamlin has been coming back to his home town track of Richmond International Raceway year after year to compete in the Sprint Cup Series, only to be continually frustrated by his inability to win. Saturday night all his energy and work finally paid off in front of his hometown fans as Hamlin’s FedEx Toyota was fast all night long. Hamlin was in the lead for 298 of the scheduled 400 laps in the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 on the challenging and dangerous Richmond International Raceway. After all the time, energy and work Hamlin has put into winning in …read more
Hamlin Wins First Race of Sprint Cup Season

Denny Hamlin must know himself, his team and his car pretty well or maybe he just decided that he was going to win one for his grandmother who passed away recently. Either way, he successfully predicted on Friday that he would win Monday’s rain delayed Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway and he was as good as his word. His win was a struggle throughout the 500 miles but he managed to keep his car in sixth position and in one piece until he was able to make his move with 13 laps remaining. Hamlin had his best …read more

Kyle Busch made perfect on his efforts to sweep the road course races in the Sprint Cup Series this season as he nabbed his first career victory at Watkins Glen International on Sunday. He led four times for a race high 52 laps, giving him his 8th win of the season and making him the first driver to win the races at both Infineon and Watkins Glen in the same year since his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate, Tony Stewart, did it back in 2005. He also won the Nationwide Series race in Mexico City earlier in the year, making him …read more

This week NASCAR heads to Waktins Glen International for one of their two road course races of the season on the Sprint Cup Series schedule. The race comes just one week after NASCAR made history for itself when they raced in the rain last Saturday in the Nationwide Series in Montreal, which most critics feel came off as a huge success. As of right now there are no plans to break out the rain tires on Sunday, but there’s still plenty to look forward to with just five races remaining until the cutoff for the Chase.

List of the Week: Bubble Drivers Race to the Chase

With the cutoff for the Chase quickly approaching, a mere 5 races now separates us from the beginning of NASCAR’s playoff season. Yet, still, there is quite a bit of uncertainty in the air as to whom will be competing for a championship in the final 10 races and who will be racing to build momentum for the 2009 season. Only 80 points separates 7th place Kasey Kahne from 12th place Clint Bowyer, and only 46 points from Bowyer back to 14th place David Ragan. Even Brian Vickers all the way back in 16th still has a shot at this …read more
Rating the Race: Pocono – Pennsylvania 500
August 3, 2008 by Tim Zaegel

Rain played a large part in pretty much anything NASCAR tried to accomplish this weekend, and Sunday’s race at Pocono was no different. It was also one of the more interesting weekends in Carl Edwards’ professional racing career, that’s for sure. He had to squeegee the rain off his own windshield under caution during Saturday’s Nationwide Series race in Montreal (in which he finished 6th). Then, after both of the Sprint Cup practice sessions were rained out on Saturday, his team unloaded off the hauler on Sunday with a car that Crew Chief, Bob Osbourne, described as “experimental.” Then, they …read more
