Is there anything Tyler Hansbrough and the Tar Heels can’t do?

Now he and his teammates are saving lives according to this story earlier today from Yahoo Sports.
“Tyler Hansbrough has always been known for his points and rebounds, but on Thanksgiving Day in Maui, North Carolina’s All-American forward came through with a timely assist.
After winning this week’s Maui Invitational, the top-ranked Tar Heels were set to begin a long trek back to Chapel Hill, N.C., when their travel plans hit a snag. As American Airlines Flight No. 6 backed away from the gate, a passenger in seat 25C was discovered unconscious.
When attempts to wake him failed, a flight attendant yelled for …read more

Ahhh Finally

Let’s backtrack a little and look back on the picks, predictions, prognostications—ah whatever—that I have laid out here so eloquently in the collegefastbreak domain somewhat recently.
In no particular order and in no particular feeling of confidence either:
**** Scoff at it, just get mad at it UofA fans. Your team will lay an egg this year but totally get hot and win the NIT.
^ Addition by subtraction in Texas—ludicrous to say maybe, but D.J. and A.J. were beguiling wonders on the court that irrevocably held back the Longhorns from placing more impactful punches against stronger fighters.

Prediction 8: ACC/Big Ten Challenge

The Atlantic Coast Conference has dominated the Big Ten in each of the 9 years of this yearly Challenge. The last two years the ACC has recorded 16 wins versus just 6 losses. The ACC’s total record is 56-30.
The Challenge tips off on the first of December with Wisconsin visiting Virginia Tech.
After the opening day 5 games on each of the next 2 days will take place. There are some salivating matchups for sure.
Duke at Purdue
UNC vs. MSU at Ford Field– ok, UNC at MSU
Ohio St. at Miami
Eh, I guess know “salivating” is more of …read more

1/2 – Kent State versus North Carolina – as it happens

As we start out 2008, I figured the best way to kick things off is to do a running commentary of the #1 team in the nation – the North Carolina Tar Heels. The Heels come into the game a bit short handed – backup guard Bobby Frasor blew out his knee and is gone for the season, backup guard Quentin Thomas is nursing an ankle injury is questionable for the game, and forward Alex Stephenson is away from the team attending to family matters.
Will the lack of depth hurt UNC?
The announcing crew is  Mike Patrick and Len Elmore. Let’s …read more

12/28 – UNC beats Nevada, loses Frasor for season

The #1 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels looked very impressive last night in their 106-70 victory over Nevada. Tyler Hansbrough led the way with 26 points and Wayne Ellington chipped in with 23 as the Tar Heels improved to 12-0 on the season. However, the victory was overshadowed by a knee injury to backup point guard Bobby Frasor. Frasor tore the ACL in his left knee and is out for the year.
Frasor was a valuable cog in head coach Roy Williams’ rotation and his absence will definitely impact the Tar Heels as they enter the ACC conference regular season schedule.
But …read more
