Brady Quinn, the team’s starting quarterback, is getting a lot of the blame. Against the Broncos, he completed 18-of-31 passes and had an interception. In the first two games, he has one touchdown to go with two interceptions. He also has only 366 yards passing in the first two contests.

Next week, it doesn’t get any easier for Quinn. The Ravens have made life tough on opponents for years. If he’s not on top of his game, his starting gig may be in jeopardy.

Considering that the Browns have one of the NFL’s best backup QBs in Derek Anderson, the coaching staff won’t delay too much longer in making a switch. Anderson has had success in Cleveland and there are people around the Browns organization who believe that he gives the team a better chance to win.

Anderson was injured earlier in the offseason while participating in minicamp. The team doesn’t expect to have to limit him in training camp.

Right now, most team insiders believe that Brady has the advantage when it comes to being named the starter for the regular season. However, considering that Anderson was a Pro Bowl quarterback in 2007, he definitely has the talent to win the job.

Don’t expect Browns coach Eric Mangini to pick a starter until late in the exhibition season.

All Cleveland Browns fans have the same question — who will start at quarterback? Will it be 2007 Pro Bowler Derek Anderson or Brady Quinn, the young signal caller with untapped potential.
On Tuesday, Browns head coach Eric Mangini answered the question yet Browns fans were left at square one. Mangini said that the starting quarterback position is up for grabs and that a decision won’t be made until after an open competition during minicamp and the exhibition season.

On Tuesday, Browns head coach Eric Mangini answered the question yet Browns fans were left at square one. Mangini said that the starting quarterback position is up for grabs and that a decision won’t be made until after an open competition during minicamp and the exhibition season.

The 6-foot-6 Anderson appeared to be heading toward stardom after throwing 29 touchdown passes and for nearly 3800 yards in 2007. However, last season he completely underwhelmed. In ten games, Anderson was only able to throw nine touchdowns.

Quinn didn’t exactly light up the stat sheet last year, either. He played in a total of three games and finished the season with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Before he could further prove himself, an injured finger required surgery and he was lost for the rest of the year.

Who will win the open competition? It’s difficult to pick a winner as of now. Both quarterbacks have contracts that pay them in excess of $20 million over the life of the deal. While the Browns spent a first round pick on Quinn, they also have seen tangible success when going with Anderson.

In the most likely scenario, Browns fans will get to see a lot of both quarterbacks until one of the two steps up and proves he’s the man for the job.

The Cleveland Browns lost to the Dallas Cowboys 28-10 this past Sunday. I didn’t believe they had a shot of winning the game anyway but I did wonder at least a couple things:

Why they kicked that field goal instead of trying to go for a touchdown on 4th down?
Why Tony Romo got so much time in the pocket and didn’t start bleeding til the 2nd half?

And as you can see, one of those questions was NOT when is Brady Quinn going to play. But in reading WaitingForNextYear.com, a Browns fan was/is wondering that question. Hmm. I guess that [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

I’m sure a lot of franchises have fans who after watching their team not be able to do anything on defense demand for a quarterback change. Seems very common.
